Hi all, quick question. Has anyone used or had experience with this company, Ripe Insurance?

They are quoting me quite a good price but, as we all know, low and cheap(ish) isnt always the best.

Cheers, Rick.

They're underwritten by Aviva, so no problem in that respect, but no personal experience to know how well (or not!) they handle claims.

Cheers Bav. They are the cheapest of about 12 quotes I've got so far. From £437 all the way up to £843!! Aviva themselves came in at £558.

Despite a quote from Adrian Flux @ £499, I decided to stay away from them after I saw the post on here about them wanting you to install a "tracker" gadget supplied by them as part of the deal. No thanks.

When the government introduce pay-per-mile road pricing, we'll all have one of those bloody things, but, until then, I'd say no thanks too.

I tried Ripe insurance today as I received my renewal quote from AF, AF quoted 570£,(after chatting to AF they reduced it to 480£), ripe insurance quoted for the same cover but more miles PY, £361.
The reason they are so low is as a new insurance company they are offering discounts galore.
I highly recommended calling or using the online quote system.

Did they offer Guaranteed Value cover?

It’s somewhat more subversive than that…letter from insurer lands on doormat: your tracker indicated that you were doing 35 in a 30 zone. We have amended your premium to reflect the change to your risk profile and added a £100 admin fee!

Just had a Ripe online quote of £279 inc. Euro,Legal and £2500 windscreen upgrade, that's about half my normal premium, any expediences????

They've quoted me £390. No commuting (I'm retired) but I ticked the boxes for loads of options. Being registered as a motor caravan and Redline being a conversion company they recognise seems to have reduced it bit.

Was surprised to see no claims protection is almost £50 - it's always been less than a tenner anywhere else,

Even if it they're carp, it's tempting. The nearest equivalent with higher profile companies is newtly twice as much, and while their overall Trustpilot score is low their "motorhome" insurance gains a 4.5 star average.

Given their policies are underwritten by one of the big boys, the types of issues you're likely to encounter (if any) will be customer service-related and, potentially, non-UK call centres.

I think I'll risk it.

Think the reason the vehicle policies get a decent review is they probably farm claims out to a claims management company rather than do it themselves, so it doesn't matter if their Uzbekistan call centre is a bit woeful.

Wow, Has that actually happened to anyone? That is a bit worrying. I never even thought of it.

Happened to the son of one of my ex neighbours.

Eventually he must have been recorded doing silly speeds because they revoked his cover altogether.

Which leaves him in an even bigger pickle as he’ll have to answer the “have you ever had insurance declined…” question with the next crowd!!!
