Rob's T6 Overland Camper Build Thread

I'm sorely tempted to get a snorkel for mine. I'd never wade with it, I just like the look.

Small update for today, been looking at various spotlights and fitments etc. but couldn't justify the cost of the Lazer lamps. There are all sorts of funny laws about spots in Europe so figured these would be just fine to add an extra bit of light. Still deciding whether to get the Hess Lightbar brackets and fit a 52" Curved bar on the roof and risk it...

So in the mean time I managed to get a hold of the Lazer lamps brackets, and got some nice Nilight spots to fit.

Next need to take the heat gun to some perspex and mold the bracket to hold the 4 Gang Auxbeam switch panel.

I probably will when I can sneak it past my accounts department.
I have on fitted, they do make a bit of extra noise from the air intake, also you will need to buy a windscreen cover in two sections, I’ve only seen one company make them, if you use one

Little update, we drove across Europe from Poland to Bristol, England to take the van for its next phase of the conversion.

Its getting the following done:
  • Austops Poptop tent with Delux bed
  • Carpetting of the sides
  • Altro floor
  • Smartbeds Rock & Roll bed on rails
  • Kitchen/ cupboard unit
Really looking forward to finishing up the project.

Must be honest, I am not happy with the way the Lazer brackets sit in front so have ordered a new bumper, its currently in for paint work. Also ordered a set of 7" round spotlights, will be fabricating a bracket for the spotlights when I have the front bumper off... Photos to follow.

For now, some photos from the trip.

That's the style of spare wheel carrier I'm after, but I want it to go on the other side.

Yeah it looks fantastic! I like it a lot! UB makes one for the Left side as well

Tiny little update.

As mentioned in a previous post, I wasnt happy with how the bumper looks with the Lazer lights bracket - they sit skew and shake a lot when driving. As the Stratline front bumper is a single unit, this meant I had to change the entire front bumper..

I will also be fabricating brackets for the spotlights out of flat bar that will be connected to the Chassis cross member towards the lower part of the bumper... This will come in another post.

Went on a hunt to find a bumper that has the Radar, front PDC and Washers for the Xenons... found this guy... Took my permanent marker to the bumper showing the painter exactly what I wanted, a 2 tone paint job. The middle section to be painted black and everything else white.

Thanks Chris. You read my mind - THQ ones are quite literally a tenth the price of the UB ones so you've made me happy

Just need UB to hurry up and reply to my email!
