Roof rack with ladder roller

Sounds about right. Last time I used my roof rack I had all the 9x2’s to build my flat roof on it. Probably won’t do that to this van!

I'm currently switching to self employed, and am looking at roof racks.

I was looking at the vanguard system which has a roller for unloading ladders off the rear, however its isn't compatible due to the sportline tailgate spoiler.

Has anyone found a similar solution which will fit.

Ps I'm a short arse so struggle lifting them off the side.

I don’t have a spoiler but I’ve looked around for a rear loading system for a canoe that will tie in with my Thule bars. I didn’t find anything so my plan is to make a roller with two guide posts that sits on top of the tailgate on foam pads and secures to the rear Thule bar both sides.

I have roof rails on then purchased a Rhino rack with a roller. I have a tailgate and spoiler. I originally intended to take off the rails to mount the rack directly where it's supposed to go. However 2 points...the rails have been leak free and so didn't want to risk future leaks by disturbing them....
..and by mounting the rack where its supposed to go, the roller snagged the spoiler.
I have mounted the rack onto the rails and this has gained about 60mm height which is enough to raise the rack away from the spoiler...simple solution and looks no different really.
I've since looked at a rhino rack mounted directly onto the fixing points and to be honest I prefer my solution as it gives more space between the rack and roof to avoid roof damage.
I've zip tied it on temporarily with the addition of 2 jubilee clips while I wait for the permanent fixing bolts to be made.

Clever! It’s always rewarding when you can see how you’ve improved on a design, especially to meet your needs.
