Must have missed something? Why would you do that? Just slide the seat back and use a angled ring spanner and it probably takes less time than it did for you to cut the plastic!

Thats drastic, seat all the way back and fully lifted (assuming you dont have factory swivels) and a deep socket on a ratchet fits in there nicely

Never personally thought about fully lifting seat! just worked round it with an offset ring spanner
