Shark Fin / Bee Sting Aerial.

Right all sorted and installed.
After cutting the 20mm hole in the roof panel I dropped the cables through from the sharkfin and torque the retaining nut to 6nm and then ran them down the drivers side (some will disagree)

Then both FM and DAB down the A pillar

I ran the the DAB into the drivers side door connector through this hose and fished it through not difficult. Then plugged into the DAB female fakra in the door.

The FM I traced the existing loom removing the lower panel in the pic below.

Remove the trim surrounding the stereo with a trim tool to pop it out. Be careful as the clips are tight work from one corner to the other gradually popping as you go, remove the stereo x4 t20 torx bolts. Pull the radio put and release the double white FM connector. You could also connect your DAB here saving going through the door. The connector is removed by pulling out the white clip the press the retainer down and pull at the same time. Insert FM adapter and FM cable.
Then put your van back together.
I had mine colour coded while waiting for connectors to arrive.
Hope this helps.
Not difficult at all.

Amazing job and look well cool. It has given me more confidence to do the job. Just got to save a bit more for the shark fin. Did you have to use a separate power feed?

Looking good.

No, phantom power from the cable is already there just plug FM and DAB in. I did try when connecting to see if it worked. Radio on with cables unplugged just static on FM and no signal on DAB then plugged each cable in and all came on FM and DAB.

How's the signal now? 100% better?

I cant give you an honest answer as of yet as I dont think the police would take too kindly if I said I'm driving around checking my new sharkfin reception in a lockdown. N Wales police are taking no prisoners (and quite right too) so no point risking anything. What I can say is I am receiving Manchester DAB stations on my drive and they are 60 miles away so looks promising so far.

How you getting on with the Sharkfin?

Massive improvement. Only dropped out once that was going under a bridge for a second max. Used to be every 10 seconds stop start. Would highly recommend.

Brill, that's the next mod, just ordered a set of gloss black badges and dynamic led indicators from travelinlite. It's been an expensive week as I've also changed all 4 tyres on the van. I'll keep you posted.

Never ending isn't it. Spent 70 sheets on sun visors this week just because the mrs wanted a mirror another 200 on JL audio speakers and sound proofing. Tomorrow's mod. We love it though!!
