I've found pete and his team at skipton very easy and extremely easy to deal with, although I've never ordered anything online from them. Had the speakers and soundproof upgrade done by them at my home address on the date and time agreed. I cant speak highly enough of them and find when i message him on insta i always get a response.

I've just had a similar experience with them recently.. ordered the T6 micro amp kit online well over a month ago.

No reply to numerous emails and calls over the weeks.

Was just about to claim my money back from the bank when it arrived from them!!!!! No note or explanation or anything.

Odd because I had used them before last year and received a prompt service.

Others have rated them . . . . . . . . So I just put it down to low staff or holidays or something. Not good I know.......but I got my kit eventually.

On a side note . . . . . . Still waiting for my delivery from AutoBright detailing from bank holidays order...GRRRRRR!

Interesting, thanks Dell.

If you like any audio advise. I am always around on here and many other forums.

We have supplied many audio kits, from headunits, speakers and full amp setups to hundreds of owners all round the Uk, and as far as Norway, jersey, Monaco,Poland and many others

How things are going, I'll probably be in touch....

I got quite a few bits for my bus from Skipton last year, delivery was a little slow and the multiplug was quite nasty/iffy, but it did all work and sounded far better than stock.

They've obviously bitten off a bit more than they can chew and I know they are in the process of taking on a new unit. Not that this excuses the poor delivery times and lack of responses.

@Absolut5 your work is the pinnacle that others aspire to, but Peter is very proactive on Facebook with his plug/play kits, people tend to be impulsive, they see a DIY kit and boom it's ordered. I'm aware you don't like to go down that route and obviously your business is very successful without constantly posting up various kits for sale, but I think you're missing a trick, get some kits listed on your website/FB with prices and give us DIY'ers an alternative to the likes of Skipton.

Thanks for replying Shane. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, as there's many good reports on here. But the end of my tether is now firmly in sight.

Thanks Fezza - there's many reports like yours on the forum, and I was quite happy and confident ordering from them. It's the lack of contact or response that's annoyed me. Dell's reply was interesting, as he experienced similar.

Yeah that kinda thing pisses me off too. I had a similar issue with a firm much bigger than skipton. It can put you off.

Mates

Following on from what others have done, I ordered the Blam 8 inch kit from Skiptons the week before Easter. Called them prior to clarify the contents of the kit. Managed to get through on about the fourth attempt, and was told they were in stock. Ordered online, and had an acknowledgement by return saying the order was being processed.

Heard nothing last week, sent an email Thursday asking if they had a delivery date, didn't get a response. Sent further email this week asking the same. Had an email response back saying that Parcelforce delivery was attempted Tuesday 30/4 with a tracking number. Tracking number isn't recognised by Parcelforce website. No card or anything left at my address. Further email explaining this, and asking them to clarify and assist. Nothing back. Tried to call them several times yesterday and today. They have a pesky answerphone that doesn't take messages. Beginning to get slightly frustrated. Unrelated, my shiny new adjustable bushes (see thread in Suspension section) were delivered and signed for on Tuesday, as well as another pallet of non-T6 stuff.

They're clearly a small business, not a big online outfit, and have an actual business to run with fitting and projects too. I don't expect immediate responses, but am tiring slightly of all this chasing being fruitless. I'm in no super mad rush, and remember back in the day all mail order was 28 days for delivery ! I'm more annoyed by the lack of communication, or even being able to contact them, than not having the speakers yet.

Can anyone comment on their experience with Skipton ? I'm quite new round here, and don't want to start ranting, but am not really find the service acceptable.... On the other hand I've had nothing but faultless service and support from Amazon, but the Internet is full of people screaming the opposite...

Not sure what to do next at the moment...

Many thanks for the nice comments

We used to sell on line years ago have up as many owners would purchase the in correct item, even though we put every detail in the discription etc

Then returns, etc resulted in headaches

So I rather owners contact us directly via, email, forums and even a phone call, then we can direct them into the correct purchase for their requirements and some times saving them money on what they were originally going to purchase,

I love building a relationship with the customer, and have made many friends, and we also supply a few conversion companies as well

But I take on board what you have said, and maybe in the future we will do some more online sales

Regards jason

Ps, have a great weekend guys

Well. Not a sausage. It's been a busy week with the day job, and not had chance to chase. Just drafted an email saying cancel the order and refund me... .. May well be on to @Abs5 for alternatives next week.....

He did post on FB that he’s waiting for broadband to be installed in the new unit before he can reply to his emails, poor excuse, buy a 4g dongle.

How did he post with no Internets then ?!!?
If I'd know you were about now, we should have gone for a couple of pints at The Cliff....

Yeah exactly, piss poor.

We like it at The Cliff, but ventured up to the Inn in the Park for lunch today for a friends birthday, new landlord/lady and it was pretty good for a change.

I'm interested in the rear speaker pods. How do they sound? Any photos of the shape of the pods before they are fitted? How were they fitted and did they thread the speaker rables through to the head unit? Do you know how they did that?

I’ve used Peter at Skipton before, can only say good things about the service I received. Bought a tweeter loom and speaker upgrade including soundproofing on my last van and he answered numerous questions before purchase and the items were delivered promptly.

Well, I sent several further emails, not a sausage back. Did a credit card chargeback the week before last. Bank have returned the funds to the card pending the dispute outcome. Nothing from Skipton or the bank since.

I have bought some nice Ferrari 599 tweeters from a breaker to build something myself.... Just awaiting some new caps before I get cracking. In my copious spare time. Will post something up as and when.

I just had a terrible experience with these guys, I asked SCR to fit an Android head unit to my Audi which they agreed to do, They made a feeble attempt, they told me I had given them the wrong equipment which I hadn't, as confirmed by Icebox audio. They charged me £130 for their failure and refused to take any responsibility for it. They also accused me of trying to fit it myself before sending it to them.

Do you own a T6 or have you just joined to publically call them out? (which we don't condone)

Well took my van to Skipton Car Radio last Friday for a full speaker upgrade and what can I say. I have had cars with seperate amps and big sub woofers in the boot( all standard factory fit though) but this is definitely the best car stereo I have ever heard. Got the pods in the back and you can just keep on cranking the volume up without any speaker buzz or vibration at all. All coded into the std head unit so that the fader works and a total professional fit out and well matched system. Those guys definitely know their onions when it comes to transporters. Can’t recommend them highly enough. I am not connected or on commission by the way, just a very satisfied customer. Happy days !! Van is fully sound deadened and insulated if that helps any??
