Skyline pop top roof...

Returning back from a weekend away the offside roof clip rotated and came undone from the catch..
On closer inspection I had noticed that the retaining bracket itself was nice and tight and had not come loose... but when I collapsed the roof it would not turn (with the key) to lock it into position, the near side was ok... resulting in me taking my belt of securing it around the internal handle and the Mr's holding onto it all the way home...
Has anyone ever come across the same problem before and if so what's the best way to resolve this issue... many thanks in advance

I'm still working on a solution to resolve this as neither Skyline nor the installer that fitted the roof will sell me a new pair of cams, despite the fact that they are defective, in terms of not being fit for purpose (in my opinion) and were not installed correctly...

I'm just about to place an order for new cams for a separate supplier (Assembly & Fastening Product Specialists | Zygology Ltd - Zygology Ltd) although its a 30 day lead time, if Skyline won't sort it for you get in touch and I can add a couple to my order.

As a short term bodge I've replaced the M4 bolts, hammered the cam flat and also fitted a chunky washer on top before the M4 bolt is added in to stiffen the arm a little bit. If I take the van on the motorway I will out a strap over the entire roof as I don't trust the hold down system at all.

In the long term I'm looking for a way to fit 'traditional' webbing straps, but this will probably include an external spreader plate on top of the roof to fix the. There also isn't a lot of space for the canvas at the front...

The most disappointing thing is the response from Skyline to say it's user error, and to refuse to send out a couple of cams which I have offered to pay for, and presumably they have in stock...

Thanks for the information... I'm going to get my cams looked at today,to fi d out if they need replacing,in the meantime I'm going to use the washer technique...
I just can't believe that this has passed and been accepted as safe
