smoke appearing under pax front wheel arch

I stopped after driving my T6 after 10 miles the other day to let a passenger get in and they noticed smoke (not steam) emerging from the front left wheel arch, this is with the van still idling. Lifted the bonnet and seemed to be coming from the lower right area but couldn't identify exactly where. Whilst I always get the cold start exhaust smells for 10 seconds or so, I haven't noticed this smoke before and I haven't noticed the smoke happening since then (driven about 100 miles since on 4 or 5 trips since). Has anyone experienced similar?

Worth a look, takes less than 5 minutes, the pipe will be black around the bellows section. Another possibility is oil dripping onto a hot component.

Looking at the access its a pig of a job! I have the 204 engine so access isn't so easy Took me a whole day to do. Still not sure the bolts are quite tight enough but seems to be ok. My hands took a right beating. There’s something back there a bit lower down too that looked like the oil...

Rear EGR pipe had a big hole in it, front had a split and was hissing, so blanking plates on both and EGR re-mapped...£678...
