I noticed earlier today that the soc on my leisure battery wasn't updating. Is my battery dead? Any ideas?

12.4v is a bit low for charging that SLA battery . . .

so too little solar id image, at this time of year.

whats the reading when the engine running and the Orion fires up. . .?

remember at a 10A charge it will take over 10 hours to charge that battery . . . and the top 20% always take the longest time.

also whats the battery setting page set lick in the BMV?

and the orion and mppt chargers?

are you using the local VE coms network?

+++++++++++++

nice setup . . . .

about time you upgraded that battery to Lifpo4 no?

Cheers for replying Del. I was eyeballing those fogstars yesterday hahaha

So it's charged 1% so we're at 83% now. What I dislike about the victron kit is to charge my leisure battery I have to have my key in the ignition and it switched on for it to charge the starter and leisure at the same time... my mate who had the ctek it just worked...

- why is that?

and from what charge source?

solar will charge the LB 24/7
EHU IP22 will charge the LB 24/7

Orion will charge when engine running.

alternator will charge the starter battery.

unless. . . . .

you connect the EHU IP22 to the STARTER battery. . . . then when the starter starts to charge up the Orion will kick in and start charging BOTH batterys.

i show it working here:

I did this years ago and was miffed with it then... I've got to dig out my build notes. Mebe next time you're at KBR we can have a chat

also . . .

if you want to reverse charge your starter battery ( from your solar and LB)

you can so that by adding a AMT2-12

see here:

I saw the Amt2 but I'm loathed to pull the cab to bits agai to run another cable. I did run a spare 1mm2 cable that's under the chair would that suffice? Thanks again for your help. Battery is now 99%

You don’t need to run another cable through the cab you could connect to the cab battery supply to your Victron Dc to Dc charger that’s what I’ve done with my Sterling Dc to Dc charger connected to the cab battery lead and hab battery lead.
I used one of these instead of a Amt2.

That box is just a resister+diode dumb box...

It has no smarts or programmable options.... It's will just dump as much current as the diode+resistor will allow into the starter battery depending on the voltage of the LB and SB.

There is a chance you can over charge the starter if your LB voltage is high a lot.

I don't like them or recommend them,... But they will work..... I'd be monitoring the voltages very closely.
