Sorry if this has been covered before??

Looking at a possible new van (2023) LWB DSG dealer is saying its a 204bhp engine but on the reg check coming up as a 199bhp?

Is this 1 to stay clear of or has the issues been ironed out? any 1 on here with similar van engine wise?

or I'm I better to focus for the 150ps engine?

Thanks in advance

The T6 had the 204 CXEB engine till 2019,

when it was replaced with the CXEC 199 engine in late T6 vans,

The T6.1 started with the CXEC 199 and carried on with that.

we know the CXEB 204 early units had issues, not aware of any major CXEC 199 issues yet?

as for the 150 engines. . .

in the T6 we had the CXFA & CXHA 150 engines,

which were carried over to the T6.1 CXFA & CXHA 150 engines,

But the T6.1s had a different adblue setup and EGR cooler. ( an improvement over the T6 arrangement)

Many thanks for this info.. spoken to my local garage that work on VWs and advised to stay clear of the Biturbo's.. don't fancy shelling out a ton of money to have engine issues a couple of years in!

So where does the DMZA engine come into all of this?
good question, . . .

its not listed in the VW docs I've looked at .

but google says its paired with the CXEB, . . . maybe a NON European variant? USA? OZ? Other?

a quick google and youtube search

"vw cxec engine problems"

shows nothing of any relevance.

just the standard CFCA and CXEB issues.

so still assuming the VW had ironed out all the gremlins and the 199 CXEC is a good engine - well from 2019 they are almost 6 years old, so we would expect to see any highlighted problem by now?

i wpouldnt have any issues getting one.

(still not sure yet if my replacement 2018 CXEB engine will be a CXEB or CXEC? . . . not long to wait now )
