Starlink

I’m running my mini of a 12v socket connected to my leisure battery. If I switch on inverter with a decent load it does cause the mini to reboot.i suspect it’s voltage sensitive. Works also fine on a number of battery banks as long as you can supply the wattage over usb-c.

Well, today I did a test: Salisbury to Andover run with swmbo and kids. Eldest watched a 4k video while youngest did his online gaming. SWMBO WhatsApp’ing family (or lover, if she has any sense!)

Even where the mobile usually jitters there were no complaints. Wound the van up to 90 and I was still drawing 12mb down with no issue!!!

Winner winner!

Aye, those birds are zipping round in the order of 17,000 MPH. Another 90MPH relative velocity won't make any difference.

They clearly have a very effective method for handling unwanted Doppler effects.

Loving that. Great for the winter months when not out as much. Nice one Elon.

Might be of interest to Starlink users:
Starlink Quietly Add £8 Roaming Plan to UK Satellite Broadband Service

(to save you reading - an £8pm option has appeared for existing users when they attempt to unpause an already paused service giving 20GB of service)
Yep I took up the option this morning. My view it is a £42 saving and I can buy 16.8gb extra gb if I want @£2.50 perGB and stay within the £50 limit.

I’ve done 3 weeks in France, Slovenia and Slovakia skiing and used a total of 24gb. So I see no problem.

It worked a treat on the motorway on my roof light

Thanks.
So this would work off the leisure battery and also while using a campsite hookup? (Sorry, I’m a bit thick with the electicery).

Yep. I have been using it for a couple of months. I have a LifePo so the voltage is always around the 13v mark.

Last question. The Starlink mini, is it just the square ‘dish’ that comes in the box? Does it have a built in router? So just plug it in and connect to the wifi? No other things to plug in?

Plug and play. Router is internal. You do not have to connect it to WiFi. It searches the sky for a signal. I have a WiFi router connected to my Starlink via the Starlink internal router but not necessary. I just use the router it also connect to my iPad hotspot if needed and my T6.1 connects to that router. Comes with a couple of plastic adaptors to allow it to be fixed to a pole.

Thanks, yeah that’s what I meant. Plug it in and then simply connect my phone/laptop to it via wifi. No need for another router.
