Starter battery dead

no . . .

basically whats happened was . .

when you were camping the 240 EHU was keeping your LB fully charged.

BUT . . .

the rest of the van, door locks, interior light , alarm, etc etc etc

was slowly draining your starter battery.

every time you unlocked or opened the door you were draining power from the starter.

we see this situation all the time. . .

++++

even with the biggest leisure battery in the world fitted. . . . the starter will run flat within a couple of days,

unless you look at a way of keeping it charged.

Ok the AA Guy hinted that a faulty leisure battery charging system could have been the issue as it was only one afternoon …a matter of less than 6 hours that the starter battery died . It was not a period of days camping and the van had had a decent 80 mile journey the previous day . .the vans ability to switch off lights etc from open doors was functioning correctly , He tested the battery as it was charging from the alternator and could see instead of taking a charge it was losing power … so I will simply conclude now that the starter battery had reached the end of its useful life and was incapable of holding a charge even when being given power from the alternator .. it was around 7 years old .. so I guess that’s about as long as an AGM battery will last . … So I've learnt
my system will only take care of my leisure battery .
I need to change things up if I want to charge my starter battery on 240v hook up or solar.
This is what should have been clearly explained to me when I had the system fitted . I live and learn .
If I could get at the CTEK ( wherever it is !!!) I could set about modifying the set up however I don’t feel inclined to start ripping the cab to bits right now so will settle for things as they are for the time being .
I am surprised that just the opening of doors and the alarm system would be enough to drain the starter battery in a couple of days to be honest .
Im going to do my research properly now and work out what my requirements are from here on .
Thanks for the help
