Stitches and Steel Awning C-Rail

Shame as their other items look great.
Hopefully mine will come undamaged. gGod to hear they’re a decent company and you got a refund.

Im looking at getting the above awning rail, which fits under the roof bars. Has anyone else used these, or is there a better one on the market?

I’m thinking getting one too:

I’ve looked at the YouTube fitting guide and it looks a bit agricultural... you need to cut the section around each bolt hole. I was expecting you would butt each section up to the next to get a continuous line.

I’m also a bit concerned about water ingress in through the bolt holes on the top of the roof.

We got one from lightning leisure that fits under the roof rails,no cutting or drilling etc. If you do a search for fitting roof rails sealant free and follow that guide,it should ease your concerns a bit, thats what we and others have done and its worked well, hope this helps

Thanks for this, I had got fixated on the S+S product which unfortunately they cut down for easier postage. This product from Lightening looks the same but in one length which is much better. Thanks for the pointer, much appreciated.

Ours was Lightning Leisure as well. Easier in one length I think.

Just fitted the rail from Lightening Leisure. The holes were predrilled but some of them were off centre which was a bit annoying but quickly fixed with a round file.

I chose to put the VW roof bolt washers up against the skin of the van roof and then made some more rubber washers from an old bike inner tube until
I’m next passing a place to buy some proper rubber washers. It’s all a nice snug fit so would expect it’s enough to keep the water out! As usual my photos upload upside down.

I fitted the S&S rail to mine . I had not seen this video before .

I made the mistake of using the supplied tape !
Don’t it’s crap , mine started to de laminate and pull apart , it stuck well but the foam material it’s made of just pulled apart . Ended up pulling it all off cleaning the left over residue from the tape and going back to clear silicone . Ran a bead of silicone along it bit extra around the holes . Job done .
I Didn’t leave the gap between sections either !

I have a stitches and steel rail , its ok but a pain in the ass to get the sections to but perfectly, mine lifted a bit , in the end I took it of and replaced it with a full length rail from funky leisure

I fitted my funky pleasure full strip yesterday ,10 minuets drill and bolt down .
