STX coil over and ride height comfort

I have a LWB T30 with STX with a conversion which isn't wildly heavy.
I also have a SWB T32 on KW V1.
Both are lowered 60-70 mm.
I understood them to pretty much be the same thing when Bognor Motors fitted them. (But rated differently for the T32.)

In my opinion, the vans are soooo different to drive. I don't know if it's because of the wheelbase length or what, but the T32 drives like an MX5 compared to the T30!

I hasten to add that this isn't the weight of the conversion as I noted the difference after collecting the van when it was a naked uninsulated panel van with coilovers fitted.

In my brief experience, I have foundthe STX much less stiff than the KV V1, but I am told this shouldn't be the case! What do I know?

Need to get @BognorMotors to raise the T30 on STX by 25mm as it will need to tow. Shame as it looks lovely!
Is it a difference in body roll? Sounds like it from the MX5 comment. This could be partly down to the T32 having thicker anti roll bars than the T30.

The LWB always drive a little different to the SWB. I’ve always found them smoother than SWb, IMHO down to the increased distance between the axles.

ARBs are thicker on the T32 and this can give a go kart feeling(MX5). I personally love an ARB (H&R) upgrade, it really transforms the drive further, making it more car like. We have them on one of our demos, so you can have a try when you’re down. You can still upgrade both setups to H&R as well.

All down to personal preference with suspension and ARB setups and as I’m sure you heard me mention before , it’s very important to actually drive a setup before investing- We all like different drives :)

Thanks @The Van Cave and @BognorMotors. That explains it and after thinking about it, body roll is the difference, coupled with the extra wheelbase length on the LWB.
It seems that there is so much to the world of suspension that is more complex that just choosing a brand (whether that be KW/STX or any other).
Wheelbase, tyre pressure, wheel size, ARB stiffness all mean that sweeping statements relating to a specific brands are pretty much meaningless!
For me, I found that I got two very different rides with the pretty much the same coilovers. I like both, but they are very different and I would say that it is lucky that my daily "Sunday best work van" is the sporty number and the "Camper" is more barge like! For me a T30 with anything more wallowy than STX would be unsuitable.

Huge thanks to Ollie @BognorMotors for raising my ride height today. Fitted me in at short notice and raised the height and did the wheel alignment free of charge. Wasn’t expecting no cost so thanks for that Ollie.

Definitely an improvement in ride quality.
I think the STX is now as high as it will go with a 15mm rake.

Felt better, more comfortable for me. More roll, but ARB’s will be fitted to solve that.

Good to see you today and glad you are happy with the end result. The ARBs will give you exactly what you want.

Height is as high as possible at the front with a 15mm rake to the back to clarify.

To add a little more fuel to this fire , we removed an STX A kit last week for a very nice Gentleman who had been completely miss sold the kit and was not pleased with what he had purchased, the supplier had offered to take him for a ride in another van to make sure it felt as it should, but wouldn't remove and refund under any circumstances , Oddly he was also charged over 200 quid for new top mounts and bearing after being told his ones were completely shot . This vehicle had done 11000 miles and was as new ?? The supplier was dumb enough to leave the original parts in the box with the standard shocks etc . we inspected them and they were perfect ,
My major disappointment was to see they had replaced and charged for the ally bearing carrier ?? , This doesn't break or wear out and its expensive from VW . ????? do they know what they are doing or are they just a rip off /??

I guess this type of thing goes on all the time in the motor trade , we get reports of leaking shocks , but testing the oil will quickly tell you if its leaked or been put there so to speak , The answer is , if a supplier tells you that something is worn or broken ask them to show you the scrap parts and clarify what indeed is wrong before paying hundreds of pounds out for parts that aren't needed,

Also ask suppliers before committing and buying if they are happy to remove the kit if it doesn't do what was asked for or performs as explained ?? . This normally separates the boys from the girls as we say ha ha .

This Gentleman seemed to take this rip off on the chin but has called me three times now to tell me how wonderful the van performs .

It is important to note that we sell the STX kit ( i dont see any value at all in the STXA kit in a transporter ) and we have many happy clients using them . it isn't the kit we recommend however when a client is looking for comfort as an absolute priority because we have other things we can use .
