T5.1 spare wheel bracket washers/spacers

Hello, I have had to remove spare tyre bracket and there are no spacers/washers on the bolts, I believe there should be some? Are they necessary? If so does anyone know where to get some? Thanks

I'm sure our van didnt need the spacers when a 16" spare was fitted but after swapping to a 17" spare (thats slightly wider) i needed them to stop the tyre getting squashed when tightening the cradle .
I made my own spacers, just off cuts from a length of pipe i had .
Also the hinge pin needed moving to the lowest setting .

Never spotted the length alternatives before and I'm surprised that the 235 x 16 tyre is mentioned.
