T6.1 Front grille replacement

Hi all
Had a slight accident on the way to work this morning and as doesn’t appear to be any major damage am hoping I can sort it myself

I’m unsure which part I need or how easy it would be to replace it

See attached pic. It is the gloss black plastic trim by the number plate that has broken with the front sensors on

How upsetting @T6.1SB . I would be taking off the front bumper to see what, if any, further damage lurks beneath. I'm too much of a coward to do that myself, but clever forum folk say it's not a difficult job to do! There's some instructional help on here in a number of threads, have a bit of a search!

Sorry to hear that. Looks like you have a gloss black dog bone trim? You may be able to remove the centre section where the number plate sits if thats the case you may not to remove the whole bumper. In any case check for any damage behind. Although looking at the ripples in the bumper it may need a bit more attention. I have a spare centre section in gloss black if you need one.

Thanks for that, I’m starting to think going down insurance route will be easier and get my brand new van back to new condition. I took it to a vw approved repairer earlier and they found other issues that would need sorting. Splitter, Bumper, other grill, radar recalibrating, parking sensors…..

If it was a few years old I could just replace the lower grill and be happy with it and rest not very noticeable

Definitely worth getting it back to perfect . You don’t need to go through VW for an insurance claim - just go to the best Bodyshop you know and not the one your insurance company suggests - as they are normally the guys that have deals with insurance companies and don’t do the best job
