T6.1 Heated windscreen not working well

Is the windscreen heater different to the normal heater and aircon. Is there a different switch? Like for the rear.

I feel a bit of a numpty asking, but I lived in a hot climate for many years and since returning to the UK kept my car in the garage, until the T6.1 came along  so am not used to these cold mornings. Apart from some frost on the outside which clears easily with a scraper or the wipers, I have condensation on the inside of the windscreen. I have a heated screen, but it seems ineffective. Maybe I'm using it incorrectly? I've tried deciphering the instructions in the owners manual, but they make little sense to me.
What settings should I be using for the quickest way to clear the condensation? (I absolutely detest wiping the screen with a cloth!)

I would have thought with the engine running: A/C on, max heat, max fan, direction windscreen, and heated screen on. Maybe I also suffer from unreasonably high expectations, but it seems to take an eternity to clear. Or maybe I'm doing it wrong?

Have you tried directing the a/c to the side vents until it warms up? You could have cold a/c air cooling the windscreen thats trying to heat up. Condensation is always going to take longer to evaporate, you can get dehumidifier’s that sit on the dashboard, might be worth a try?

I did wonder about that. I suppose it may be counter productive blasting cold air onto a heated screen  Having never had a heated windscreen before, I was interested to know how others use them. As I said, the manual is as useful as a chocolate teapot.

With a heavy frost my windscreen takes probably between 1 - 2 minutes to completely defrost, I’ve not had an issue with condensation on the inside. Given the choice from VW, I think I would rather have had a chocolate teapot than the manual, clear as mud…
