T6.1 new order delays

Straight van or part/fully converted?

My dealer can only offer straight van px value despite our outgoing T5 being part converted with a tonne of factory for extras. Offered 50 percent of what I have already been offered on a private sale basis.
van converted into a kombi

Annnnnd there’s the VW disappointment as expected .

Had unconfirmed status 10 for week 26 . Slightly earlier than expected has changed to no build date and unconfirmed once again.

They seem to be in a free fall mess.. Paid the balance on ours on Wednesday with all kinds of exctiting assurances of collection at the weekend only to lead to zero responses to comms since Thursday morning. Tempted to submit an invoice for lost interest on the wedge!
Hopefully your van will just turn up out of the blue like ours (allegedly!) has.

Last August via a well known VW conversion company, it's not their fault but I'm now reconsidering what do.
We now have been allocated another van from their stock, not quite the same spec and a different colour, but we now have a van!

We had a shock at increase in the base van price of over £4k (150bhp Highline Swb) but have negotiated a reduction so in the end we are now £1k out of pocket.

First holiday in now booked and we are looking to put this whole sarga behind us and start enjoying getting out and about!

I just can’t understand it all . I think it’s great people get a random call saying there van has arrived but how people can wait 14 , 15 months and have no news and others get them . Dealer allocation plays a big part but why are dealers over allocating and allowed to do so.

I keep going through phases of looking to see if there is anything else out there but there just isn’t for the same price or within my budget.

VW just don’t care there profits are good and have a product that’s high in demand why would they care .

Sure it will all be worth it but just sometimes wonder if the van will ever turn up.

Getting told when ordering March 22 delivery and kinda accepted that but the way it’s looking I honestly don’t believe a will get a March 23 delivery.

Sorry that’s my moan over the misses is sick of hearing it now haha

I think they (vw) most likely have done a shite in their pants I would if my gas was about to be turned off.
At the end of the day if I produced over 8 million units a year worldwide who are you and I in the big picture? with supply chain and manufacturing issues.
Unfortunately it’s just suck and see ! has been for well over a year and I can only see it going further down hill .

What are trade in values like at the moment, going to dealer next week to see what our van is worth with possibility of an August delivery but thought market was not so bouyant even with current new build delays. Prefer to trade in due to being Vat registered...

Trade in prices being offered are at pre-covid levels - despite forecourt prices for used stock being at the current massively inflated level.

It is the case across all dealerships not just VW Van centres.

Yes, I accept dealers are paying more for used stock due to the bun fights at the auctions but they’re certainly not if a trade in comes through their doors that they can stick straight on their used forecourt.

As my order is now over 13 months old, I decided to chase my dealer for an update. Alas, I got the same response from him as I did when I last chased him back in December: "your order status is '00'!" :(

When I challenged him, recounting the experience of others on this forum who've had multiple provisional build weeks and multiple times they've reverted to status '00', he claimed that was the same with my order, but that they just didn't bother informing their clients of provisional allocations, as they were meaningless and provided false hope.

In a way, this was encouraging news - I'm in no worse position than anyone else on this thread :waving:- but I don't really know if the dealer was just saying that to appease me, or whether it's the truth. Does anyone else here have an order outstanding with JCB Van Centre in Ashford, Kent and, if so, do they keep you informed when your order moves to status '10' (provisional build week allocated), or do they not bother?

Also, is there anywhere online where I can check my order status for myself?

As a footnote, he did day that orders are starting to come through now, which adds to the narrative on this thread that things are starting to move now. He said he thought my order wouldn't be much longer, but declined to offer a delivery estimate - so, that comment is not worth the paper it isn't written on!

I will be 15 months of waiting in 2 weeks! Got an update today saying no news at all. However he did say the next sportline they get will be mine. Also said he has another 59 sportline vans on order! The Volkswagen shit show continues.....

Well I had to bite the unfortunate bullet today and cancel my van. Absolutely gutted especially when dealer told me they had confirmation it was starting to be built next week. In the unfortunate position now of no van and used prices are still crazy so either a high mileage T5 / T5.1 or, ahem, scuse me, a transit custom. Sorry for the foul language.

Ricardo T, have you collected your new van yet?
Nope...coms from my dealer are pretty slow tbh so this final bit is as painful as the rest.!!. He's again informed me today it should be with him by the end of the month and that I need to get my butt down to the dealership Wednesday to sign up, van or no van , or I will lose my price protection as VW will force him to register it this month! On holiday from Thursday...doesn't rain it pours! But hey...its close!

Same experience here... Feeling increasingly grumpy about paying for nothing last Wednesday and hearing nowt since, I called the dealer this morning to enquire as to the whereabouts of the elusive vehicle.
It's in the country I am told again.
I pushed for more detail and was assured that it is sat in a despatch lane at Grimsby and a transport order has been raised to get it to Sheffield. Assuming it turns up tomorrow they are making another vague promise of collection by the weekend.
The disparity in available information between VW employees let alone individual dealers is an eye opener.
