T6.1 new order delays

Hi All

I ordered a 204ps kombi in Feb with projected delivery September. Was told late August that there would be 'indefinite' delays - then got given a build slot 10 days later!? Doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to how build slots are allocated but now expecting the van in late Oct. Like @rover220, not holding my breath... (but will still be super excited when it does eventually arrive! :))
What dealer are you with?.. reason is I also ordered a 204ps Kombi but in January, projected delivery initially was July, then September, now I am told will be built in November for delivery in December.

That’s what I have also ordered, so it will be interesting to know what dealers are saying what… not sure I’d be willing to wait until February for a build week and potentially have a March/April delivery

Marshalls. They've been good to be fair and transparent with the info they've been getting from VW. Not sure the dealers have too much say in prioritising builds but I'm no expert on how that side of the industry works...

No I'm not sure of that either..I'm probably being completely unfair to my dealer :).. I just know from another vehicle I have on order at the moment their stance is "we get x amount of build slots per month and regardless of spec we allocate them on a first come first serve basis". I just feel like there isnt that level or organisation with VW, so whether thats the factory or the dealer I guess it doesnt matter, its really frustrating either way!

Its chaotic at best at VW's end. But it doesn't help when dealers sell beyond their factory allocation, and don't tell the poor punter when they take their orders.

Whilst its clear that covid, chip shortages and emissions changes for 204's have been a factor as well, I suspect that overselling allocations has a little more to do with the riduculous delays that some have had to put up with - much of which predates the issues with chip shortages.

It’s horrible reading these stories of ordering 52weeks and still waiting on a build week . Just got ordered a few weeks ago don’t want to imagine when I will get mine

I think there are lots that are arriving sooner than that Monty, my options and engine did not help but I am crossing fingers I think my build is still planned next week so that should be an end to it. Good luck

Its a horrendous wait. I have been creating technical drawings, wiring diagrams and going round and round with all the things I want to do the van changing my mind over and over. etc. Ordered a Kombi March 2021 so still got a awhile to wait :( I want to book it in to Jerber Campers near Edinburgh for a pop top but can;t commit to a date as I have no idea when it is coming.

There's an awful lot of factors in play here with regards to the delay, but as I'm sure I mentioned before on here, a friend of mine in France has a number of vans on order from VW and others. He placed the order only a few months ago, and has already been told they will be built and delivered before the start of Nov! Lucky him.

I've ordered a T6.1 Swb 150bhp 6speed Highline in August and have been told it's on track for delivery in March 22

Did the dealer tell you that? I ordered March with still no provisional build date in sight. You’ll be lucky to get yours within 12 months. Two different dealers have told me that in the last couple of weeks.

my dealer did say that electric sliders, tailgate and towbar will cause delays amongst a couple of ther things that escape me.

I saw a lovely t6.1 today on a new plate, it was sportline spec (maybe just a bumper) and the van was in what I call ‘nardo grey’ as I think that’s the Audi name for it, with black larger wheels, just had a lovely stance. It did make me wonder how long ago he ordered it!!!

Ascot Grey?

I ordered this mid March - think I was pretty lucky…….turned up mid July

It’s really all coming down to spec , engine and extras , would be delighted to get it sooner but not very hopeful ,keep getting tempted with others than are in stock but missing LED and DSG and things and think would regret it if didn’t have the spec I was looking for .

I have seen various places expecting this month to arrive so hopefully things are on the move either that or it’s orders from start of this year

Well we will have to see what happens, there is not much I or anyone else can do about delivery times. If I get any further updates I'll post them on this thread and hopefully it will give others an idea how things are progressing.

Chased my order today. Given a provisional build of week 17. If that happens then it will be 58 weeks from order. Dealer warned it may get worse due to parts shortage.
Don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Did you spec it yourself or was it an order already in the system?
No - it was a custom spec by me. Few things different than ”norm”.
150 manual panel van (do regret not getting DSG, but maybe that’s why it didn’t take 12 months)
Front & Rear LEDs
Discover Media Nav System
Power latching rear and side door
Multi purpose floor in rear
Swivel passenger seat
Secondary heating system in the rear.
