T6.1 oil level warning: Reduce Oil Level!

I think read somewhere that Mercedes restrict the throttle valve so that unburnt fuel enters the exhaust and that raises the exhaust temperature. Like I said I’m not sure on that.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but main dealer recalled my 6.1 to fix this and sure enough when it just fell out of warranty the fault appeared again. Is there a solution to be permanently rid of this problem?

I'm new to "van life" but didn't notice any YouTube vids talking about expanding oil issues and CarPlay crackles when researching prior to buying! lol

We've covered about 6000 miles in our 70 plate T6.1 (110ps manual) and had this issue driving from Chester Zoo home to central belt in Scotland on Monday night. Popped the bonnet at a stop and the dipstick showed it was too high. Low and behold, the light went off and we headed home. I was driving a 80 mile journey and the light came back on near the end, from reading here I now know why. I took it down to my local garage yesterday and they drained a fair bit out of it and the error cleared. Took it a 70 mile journey today and it came on at the end again.

Is there actually a software update? I have it booked in for an oil change on Wednesday next week.

Has anyone any experience with VW after your warranty has expired and software updates?
