It's a mechanical deterrent, steering wheel and pedal lock as a visual deterrent. Nothing is 100% secure to be honest, if they wish to take it, they will, I am hoping that it would slow them down, and they will break the gear stick in the process.

If you're talking about a Disklok there is no "installation" it's a portable steering lock that you fit to the steering wheel when leaving your van. It takes about a minute to fit.

Just to say I had a disklok for my landie and the buggers who nicked it, popped it off like a bottle cap in 5min just from tin snipping the back plates and bending it. They didn’t bother with the lock element.
When I get a steering lock next I will be getting a through wheel variation which needs an angle grinder to remove!!

This was the one I had. It was very snug on the steering wheel, but I suppose when vehicles are targeted and likely stolen to order, they are always going to find a work around. Nothing more than a visual deterrent for the hardline criminal gangs.

Heavy gauge galv steel but they clearly had a way of getting it off with ease and quietly.



I haven’t had a need to buy a new one for any of my existing vehicles, not quite as desireable. But will be in the market once my T6.1 arrives…

That’s the way I was thinking. With suitably thick plate or bent bar close to the diameter of the wheel, so there is less opportunity to shear something off.

My new camper (just 6 more days!!!) has a Thatcham 1 alarm and immobiliser, but I'm putting my faith in the new Disklok Diamond that I have on standby. They're a pain, but having spent 8 years on an autocrime team I never once came across a vehicle that was successfully stolen with one on board no matter how hard they tried.

And for good measure I'm going to conceal an obvious decoy SIM tracker that they'll doubtless congratulate themselves on finding, with another properly concealed and protected.

And our driveway only has one way in and it's covered by an IR beam which pings a doorbell type chime in the house (which in turn sends Bruce banzai) so unless they zip line in from a helicopter they won't even be albe to approach it without me knowing,

I've had a Disklok [small] for about 15yrs now and used it on several different vehicles. Delighted that it fits my T6 as it definitely seems a good deterrent..had invested in this after my then '91 Mini classic had been nicked from outside home. I couldn't understand how at the time, as it had a lock attached between gearstick and hand brake: when car finally recovered, I discovered that the top of gearstick could just be unscrewed to remove it (not something noted in owner's handbook), which rendered my anti-theft lock as effective as a chocolate teapot.
