T6 Leisure battery....

Yeh I went for the 8A ring charger but should have gone for the 12. I asked of I could change my order but it'd already been dispatched

Do you have to use fuse protection from the main battery to the B2B charger?
The instructions for the ring dc30 don't specify protection anywhere. It also says 4mm2 wire as a minimum, so I was going to go 6mm2 from main battery to Ring DC30 and 6mm2 from there to Leisure battery.

Yes you must fuse it at both batteries. I do a complete wiring kit for this in 6 mm cable and with battery connectors and 40 amp maxi fuses

Thanks for the reply

I've got a load of cable and fuses already and can't wait for everything to arrive to get started.

Does the connection from the mains battery charger to the leisure battery need fusing also?

Cheers 20A should be sufficient for my battery charger, even at full load it'll only output 8A

Go for the biggest A/H that will fit in the space you have.
I have a full van of space haha im going to have to put it in one of the cuboards as i have 2 subs under my seats, but im yet to get the cuboards etc im just starting my build I've just recieved my lights today and in gooses as where to start cos the connections these have are not what i thought.
I thought they would all connect together into an adapter and then wire into the existing interior roof lights?
Or do each individual one have to go to the fuse box (that i havent got) and then connect to the leisure(which im yet to buy)?

Easiest way is to get a fuse box something like this (this is just based on a quick google search to give you an idea)

You run a cable from the positive post of your leisure battery to the “nut” on the fuse box. The good thing with a little unit like this is that you can feed many different things and the led gives you a clear visual indicator when a fuse blows.
Then take a supply line from one of the spade terminals up to your lights. You’ll no doubt want some form of control in the way of a switch or dimmer. CBE do a very nice dimmer, I have 2, one on each zone of my lighting system.
Run the wire from the spade into the “in” of the switch. Run the -ve to an appropriate point on the van, such as the grounding points inside both d-posts. From the “out” of the switch take this to the +ve of the light unit, run the negative of the light unit back to ground. I’d daisy chain all your lights together, bullet connectors like those fitted will do the trick, then connect the wire from the switch into the first one in your circuit.

Alternatively if you only want them to come on with the interior courtesy lights, just wire them into that circuit and it saves fannying about with switches, fuses, separate supplies etc.

I have two wired up to the courtesy circuit, four to one dimmer, and two to another dimmer.

Thanks @DaveyB thats exactly the explanation a novice in electrics needs ,my lights are touch ones so will they need to be wired each individually? Cos if i wire them up all together if i touch one will they all come on or just 1? Or if i wire them all together and connect them to the original interior lights tjeyll all come on when i open the door?
But then when i shut the door how will i get them back on? Does this make sense?

@Mickymiff yes that makes sense, however I’m afraid that I can’t help you with that as I don’t have touch lights so not sure of the wiring configuration.

Usually, there is a master light which is the one you touch to turn them all on, this light connects to the power supply then all the other lights connect to the master light.

Ah right , im sure someone on here will know ,just hope someone reads this post @travelvolts do you know ? Touch lights wiring config?

Ah so will the master light be marked or do i just decide myself which one i use , so am i right in saying , if i connect my 1st light to the rear interior light that on is my jesus , the rest connected off that are disciples ?(im not religious by the way haha)
