Anyone have any suggestions? Having a pop-top rules out the 'shark-fin' option. I think.

Hi, I was of the same mind, looked at trying to fit a shark fin anywhere else but in the end changed the head unit to get carplay and use internet stations. Has worked OK with only a few dropouts, so many fewer than the pathetic dab reception I was getting - I accept others have better luck with dab though.
Can you remember where the kit was purchased from please?

Got the aerial from incartec DAB & AM/FM Combiflex antenna with DAB and FM extensions - InCarTec
No kit really because you need to purchase either another lead or an adaptor that fitted the head unit. You don’t need to earth the aerial either, because I was told you did. This is fitted to a T6.1.
