Following on from this thread,


I thought we could have a dedicated thread for showing off our upgraded steering wheels..

I bought a plastic flat-bottomed Passat MFSW off eBay for £60 and for £300 had it re-upholstered by CCSW.

I then sold my original leather MFSW for £145.

I tell you what offends my eye with custom steering wheels and re-cover jobs.

Where there's a seam that goes around the circumference of the rim of the wheel a clever artist cuts a shallow groove in the wheel to accommodate the excess material behind the seam.

Less skilled or cheaper artisans don't and you end up with a bulge, sometimes minor, sometimes horrific, and it make me want to cry when I see it.

Sadly SS Custard works have fallen foul of this one occasion. Look at the eyesore bulges at the 10, 2, 5 and 7 O'clock positions. I've seen worse, but it's still not good - the rear of those seams should be recessed into the wheel leaving a lovely flush exterior,
