T6-T6.1 facelift with ACC Radar

Did you get this sorted? Looking at buying a T6 and facelifting it but worried about the radar now.

Hello.
Not quite sure yet.
I’ve got no messages on the dashboard.
But I’ve not got the bumper on yet.
I spoke to the guys at HZ days they think they may be able to remove it from the coding. But are not a 100percent sure, as soon as it goes in, mid May I will know. I asked about the new radar. They said the chances are it won’t work with the T6 as the T6.1 wiring and electrics are totally different .
I will put all my findings on here.

You just need to adjust your radar height parameter in the dataset.

I haven't bought a van yet however I am considering a T6 and facelifting it to a T6.1. I have seen posts that the T6.1 radar position is different from the T6 and may need reconfiguring for it to work.

Where would I get this done and what would the cost be?

Your radar has to be secured correctly in its oem place. You might be able to relocate to the new place but will depend on how its set up from factory. The adas works on sensors, camera and radar and has to be calibrated after each removal of the bumper, windscreen or radar. Motor industry standards really upset the insurance companies when they told them that.

Oh I remember all the hassle after a cracked windscreen on our car, cost insurance so much money at different garages, as they didn’t have equipment to recalibrate the ACC and lane assist, we gave up in the end and Lane assist still doesn’t function, I vowed never to get a vehicle with that tech again, just standard cruise, which I have on my Startline, I like to drive properly and anticipate when I need to overtake, not have ACC put the brakes on slowing me down

Cars are a right pita with all the electric sensors. Everything has to be coded these days. Some we can do in house some we have to send out to specialists which is why our insurance premiums are going up.

Does anyone have any pictures of how they mounted the sensor? It’s not something that you’d want to move or obstruct incase it gave a false reading

You just need to adjust your radar height parameter in the dataset.

Any stories of this being successful? I’ve bought a van which had ACC and has had a T6.1 facelift. The radar unit is still in original position but I could house within the bracket for the 6.1 unit with an offset in the parameters?

Robert, are you saying that face lifting from a t6 to T6.1 can be done with a radar. Just a coding change? Thanks Paul

Yes, by default the radar will work fine within quite surprising range of mounting position heights.
But if the radar starts complaining(producing fault codes) then its height parmeter can be adjusted in the dataset accordingly and uploaded afterwards.

This is not possible! It is necessary to use rada from t6

If you want to use T6 radar you should also use the complete T6 radar bracket and mount it accordingly in your new T6.1 front setup.
