T6/T6.1 operate front wipers with ignition off

I always share as sharing is caring.

Bit 0 in BYTE 25 of BCM (09) coding is responsible for controlling windscreen wipers behaviour after switching ignition OFF.
Thank you for posting this. Would it be the same for a T6.1 also?

T6.1 is based on MQB and its BCM adjustment works via adaptations.
But since this setting is possible on old PQ25 platform and wiper motor is also fed directly from the BCM, I am expecting corresponding channel to exist for MQB.
If I find some spare time I will do some digging on T6.1 too.

I tried this tweak on Transporter T5.1 2015
Code:
SW: 7H0 937 087 P
HW: 7H0 937 087
BCM T5GP H+4 H34 0424

Genuine VCDS claimed that new coding got accepted but in fact it wasn't memorised by the BCM. I will try VCP and ODIS but it seems that this mod is not working for the previous generation.

Checked 2024 Cafter(obviously MQB) and its windscreen wipers also stop in random position after switching ignition OFF.

Transporter T5.1, T6, T6.1 and Crafter(maybe more) are factory configured like that, but why? Commercial? But my Caravelle/Multivan is not.

Quo vadis Volkswagen?

I can confirm that my T6.1 wipers stop in random position when ignition is switched off. It annoys the hell out of me.

Likewise - T6.1 Caravelle/Multivan - I particularly notice the rear having spent 15 years making sure the XC70 rear wiper parks properly when leaving the vehicle

It turns out to be a very simple tweak on a T6.1

Basically open your bonnet/hood.
Connect to 09, use SECURITY ACCESS 31347, select ADAPTATION and open channel:
ENG148493-ENG149236-Windshield wiper-Wischer_stop_bei_KL15_aus
change the value from ACTIVE to NOT ACTIVE.

That's it, job done.

Well, found some time today and can confirm it working on my T6. I guess it's back to praying to the T6 gods about my tailgate now

As always, big thanks to @Robert for this!

Confirmed for Crafter.

The same thing, open your bonnet/hood.

ENG141682-ENG116612-Front_wiper-Wischer stop bei KL15 aus
change the value from ACTIVE to NOT ACTIVE.

:mexican wave:

Thank you @Robert and @dnoermann for this lovely tweak! It works beautifully and the wipers not returning to rest position when switching ignition off has been a minor annoyance for years.
