T6 Washer bottle filler tube

Hi Everyone,

Anyone else had any problems with their windscreen washer bottle filler tube? My washer fluid bottle seems fine and holds the fluid but as soon as it gets to the level of the filler tube it leaks out onto the floor of the passenger side area of the vehicle around the areas of the front passenger wheel. Do these filler tubes simply become detached or unclip from the washer bottle or in a worse case could it be damaged or split? I've tried to access it through the engine bay to see if it will push back on but I can't get access enough to get a good grip on it?

Thanks in advance for any ideas on what to do or what to check?

I have the exact same issue. When filling up just pours out at a certain level - thought it was some overflow hole but this didn't happen previously. I tried getting to it from top-side but my arms too wide (even though they skinny). Next option is to try look in through the port in the wheel arch cover to see if I can get to it there. If that fails it's taking off the undertray which means lying in the cold and I do not like that idea.

I was hoping it would be a common problem where the washer filler tube becomes detached from the washer bottle and it could be quickly pushed or snapped back in? I tried to get my hands down low enough but it not possible the rough the engine bay. My T6 is listed so not easy to get down on thr passenger side and investigate through the wheel arch. Will be I interesting to see what you discover through that port in the wheel arch cover? Please update me if you mind. Good luck, I hope you find it, I’m hoping it’s a DIY fix rather than having to go to a garage.

The washertube is attached to the reservoir through a rubber boot(part 7.). It shouldn't come loose by itself when the neck should be attached to the top of the front covling(in the second pictures check the fastener of the pipe).

The connection of the pipe and the reservoir is a pain in the a** to get to. From up top there is a lots of stuff in the way and its quite far away. You can't get to it through the wheel arch, maybe underneath is the way to go?

Thank you for this, I can see clearly now how it all goes together. From this I have either got a hole, split or damage to the bottom of tube 6 on your diagram. Or as previously thought the bottom of the tube has somehow pulled out of the main reservoir body or maybe the o ring pr washer is damaged.
I just wonder the best place to access that particular area as it doesn’t seem to be near any access flap / or window from within the wheel arch?

Thank you again for this…..my T6 is low so not easy getting underneath.

That’s a good idea I will Google the headlight removal to check what kind of a job it is. Before buying mine I looked at options of upgrading the headlights and from memory it was a front grill and front bumper off to access the lights. Fingers crossed it’s not….. thank you.

Dunno about the t6 but on the t5.1 it's possible to remove grill and undo the fixings on the bumper all apart from the bottom end , then lean everything forwards to remove the headlights.

I recently had cause to remove the front passenger wheel thinking it was an ideal opportunity to explore access to the washer bottle and hopefully the "washer tube" filler feeding the top of the washer reservoir. I can confirm from this it is not possible to access the top of the reservoir only a small window allowing access to the washer bottle pump. I think the earlier comments were extremely helpful and the next step would be to remove the front passenger headlight. Is this an easy removal I see the top two fixing bolts are marked with coloured dot so are these fixing bolts tension or position critical?

Thanks again in advance for the help & advice...

These are the markings in blue on the top screws of there front passenger headlight, are they relevant? Is there light an easy removal or does the grill have to come out as well..?

Thanks again...

Full headlight removal is a whole front bumper off job I'm afraid. There's more bolts behind the grille to get the light unit out.

Headlight removal wont help you get access as its pretty solid underneath and requires the bumper off (or at least mostly off) to access the tank

From my experience the rubber gasket on the filler neck is fine until disturbed, when you fit a new one they are tight and a squeeze to get in but once af ew years old the filler tube slides in and out ok so it could be a case of the rubber moving/loosening
The gasket is relatively cheap so if you want to get a new one before removal so you can swap it over it might be an idea ?

Let me fetch the part number

That's great advice, thank you very much, the T6 hasn't done many miles and the filler top cap and the pipe itself look like new so I didn't think it could be much?

Yes that does seem a lot for a small gasket / seal but if it cures it would needing a filler tube or complete assembly then money well spent 😊 thanks again...
