Tailgate third brake light vendor

Got a litre of so of water in the rear tailgate. Suspect it's coming in through the cracked high-level break light (seems like a common problem). Need to replace it but cannot find anywhere who sells them for a T6. I can find loads for T5 (apparently it's a different fitting for a T6), and loads for barn doors, but zilch for a T6 Tailgate. Anybody know a supplier?

Google
and a few others as well
Got the new high level brake light (thanks for the links DXX and JOG). I've had to smash out the old light and am ready to install the new. With the frequent problems reported with the seal, is there anything else I can do at installation to make it more watertight? Not sure if adding bead of external silicone or a smear of grease is a good idea idea or not. Anybody had any experience?

Nothing wrong with a discreet whack of silicone. Remember, there is no easy way to remove the old light without smashing it

Hi. I’ve just found out the price of the new upper brake light for my 2021 van. £50.

I think that’s wheee the water is getting in but still investigating.

To replace it seems hard. As the guys at Breeze say you pretty much need to smash to old one to get it out. The seal I think is leaking and filling the door. Any ideas on how to manage this - I’ve taped it up to see if that’s the source of water and after that - anyone used clear sealant for example?

Presuming it’s a tailgate door; the light inevitability breaks upon removal. Just lever it out using suitable trim tools. Unlike the T5, there are no accessible fixings, so don’t do what I did and remove all the tailgate trims
The seal leaks, bur the OE part has been upgraded.
As a temporary measure, I used heavyweight clear tape over the light to reduce water ingress. Also remove the 4 plastic bungs from the bottom of the tailgate to allow the water to drain.

Great to hear buddy! The tape went on yesterday and the door bungs were out a few days before that! I’ll get on and buy the unit and also someone suggested the plastic trim levers (£2 each) in Halfords. Thanks again. P

Reviving this, need to reseal my brake light. Anyone had success in this? Light still works fine

Hi,

No replacement sourced. That is original. Just need guidance on sealing around edge (as sealing has perished)

Anyone know part number and how I retrieve this bit and replace?

Nothing on inside of tailgate to undo

Yeah unfortunately. They are not the best idea and alot of manufacturers do the same so you have to buy one, easy money for them. I bought a travelinlite smoked one to replace it. After 2-3 years on still good and I think it came with a good size bead gasket to make a seal.
