I just think it would be much easier for access, putting things in, and getting them out, just opening one door as opposed to opening up the tailgate, especially if you have dogs, I know the wife would find it easier.
It's not an inconvenience, but my personal preference would be for barn doors. Everyone is different I get that but I'd personally prefer to be able to leave one door shut and just open the other to reach something out of the 'boot'.
I'm also a wheelchair user so for access it's easier to be able to open one door whilst I move to the side, with a tailgate it's more difficult as you reach and then need to wheel backward out the way. An electric tailgate obviously changes this but it's also more to go wrong.
