Tailgate wiper motor delete / interior cover cap

My tailgate doesn't have glass hence no wiper or wiper motor and with the ply lining there's a bit of a void where the motor would be and as I'm carpeting the rear I'm thinking the void may not look great.



I see there's a cover plastic available (pictured below) but it has pointlessly large bulge to accommodate a wiper motor.



Other than the above, what are the solutions for this? DIY something to close the void and carpet over, or just carpet it as is? Keen to see pictures please.

I'm interested to see what options there are as mines the same. I made the ply lining panel go straight across over the gap but if there's a better option I'm all ears
