I’ve just been looking on the Navis website and read this…. have they added this??

“Please remember when ordering: these are steel wheels which are finished in a steel wheel factory. Much like the standard 16” wheels that come on a Transporter out the VW factory, they don’t have that flawless finish that a cast alloy wheel would have. Each wheel may show light steel press marks and the lip join may be visible.

Genuine VW centre caps can be used with these wheels by removing 6mm around the edge.”
Pretty sure that wasn't there before, otherwise who would pay a grand for poor finished wheels?

That’s new. I requested they do this. They may have decided to add it themselves anyway, but I suggested it to avoid potentially misleading customers.

This is obviously a difficult one for you Chris if you’re a dealer for these wheels. I’m not saying that to get any response from you…. just acknowledging your position.

Good for you Chris. If They’ve added this then that hopefully adds more weight to @Matchyt30 ‘s argument?

I don’t mind responding, I’m always happy to answer questions honestly, but I can’t comment on specific cases between customer and manufacturer/supplier.

Whether those details have been added as a result of my feedback really isn’t important and with hindsight it probably wasn’t the most sensible thing to mention on an open forum, it’s just good to see that the necessary additional information has been added to the website description. The details on the website are now definitely more accurate.

I wonder if they’re made by Jbw? They’re 18” steels wheels (amorak copies) were terrible finish and quality too.

Would be interested to hear if your still willing to sell these wheels now @The Van Cave ? After your previous comment on the quality and price.
Not whilst pricing remains as it is.

As with everything I consider offering my customers, where possible I always order a sample of 1 for a personal review before committing to sell to my customers. Or a visit to the manufacturer/supplier/distributor to examine a production example where ordering 1 off isn’t viable. Or a test drive of a product etc.

I’m committed to offering value for money products that meet my own expectations of quality. There can be differing levels of quality across products and at different price points, but as long as the quality represents good value for money and the customer understands what they are getting then I’m happy.

There are of course indulgent products and mods available, but as long as the quality is absolutely first rate, that can still count as value for money.

Good to hear

Jamie has my Navis at the moment.
In his opinion they are a nice looking and more importantly a very 'true' wheel that seems to be built pretty well.
Ok, so some might not be happy with the paint finish, but I've been unhappy with the paint finish on expensive alloys before. It's not the end of the world to have them powder coated, which will often be much better than a mass produced factory finish, plus the obvious benefits of choosing your own colour and making them a little more customised. Remember that although Duchys wheels are exceptional quality, the Navis are officially load rated and in bigger sizes, which will appeal more to the purists that mod on the legal side. In my opinion, you cannot really compare his wheels with a factory produced wheel, they are two different types, albeit both steel.

Totally agree…. although I wasn’t trying to compare the two. One is a custom built, banded wheel, powder coated by one man/a small team and the other is a mass produced steel wheel.

I was just trying to get back to the origins of the thread and put more of a positive spin on it!

That's the LR ones. They needed a little persuasion to fit. The VW don't fit with the centre depth.
I've got some VW badges coming for them.
