Temporary / Part Time Solar Help

my second unit has arrived =]

Great video, you’ve got a new subscriber! I really like the look of the Acopower, but is it 100w? It looks like it says 50w on the box and I can only find it in that form factor for 50w. Any thoughts on the eco-power 100w that looks a similar size? View attachment 67678
lol, Thank you, glad its helped.

also give yourself a pat on the back to be the first person to notice my typo . . . that panel IS 50W, NOT 100W.

its actually being used right now as my starter battery dash solar charger here > Mobile Solar Panels ? . . . - How I Did It -

a decent panel is around £2 per watt. (ish)

have a look at the ideas I've listed. and look at the semi-flexible ones too . . . . . they may be more suitable for your needs.

i have the:

Photonic Univers. (semi flexible)
Renogy (semi flexible)
Lensun (semi flexible)
Cheap WISH (semi flexible)

the semi flexible panels are more durable and very thin, so easy to store when not being used (if you have space)

Yes in you have:
Redarc BCDC1240D - Redarc BCDC1240D | travelvolts

Dual Input 40A In-vehicle DC Battery Charger
https://www.redarc.com.au/Content/Images/uploaded/Manuals/BCDC Dual Input Instruction Manual.pdf

again it looks like the REDARC will take up-to 40A MAX from solar, but keeping within the 12v panel range ((typically VOC somewhere between 18 and 25v) so you could 600w or 1000w of panels but need the in parallel and kept the VOC within range, and have cable good enough for the 40A.

what one have you got?
Thanks. Yes I have the BCDC1240D Redarc. Will have a look at sorting something out sometime.

Brought my solar panels from..Alpha Batteries..150w (cost less than £140 ea ) my way of thinking try and buy at a good price ..so if you do manage to damage it ..replacement cost is reasonable...so I got two =300w (pic shows one panel as a test setup)

@Ian_T6

how you getting on with your ALLPOWERS?

can you post some pics of setups and use cases?

@Dellmassive Just charging it at the moment with the usb-c which is brilliant! Running my iPhone 11 down at the moment to see how long it will take to charge that via the wireless charger on top - and to see how much drain it takes out from the battery, I’m guessing negligible amounts! I’ll post pics....

The results of your solar test will help me with my choice, so looking forward to the results of that!

Ok, so my iPhone 11 Pro Max started with 6% battery at 11:41 - and the Allpowers unit was at 99% charged.
The charge initially started at 12w, but then within a few minutes dropped to 8 / 9w. It stayed at this level until the phone was around 50% charged then dropped to 5w
By 13:18 my phone was at 51% charge
By 16:24 it was at 100% and the Allpowers unit was at 96%
So, it took 4h 43m to charge from 6% to 100% and it used 3% of the Allpowers charge.

In the real world you’d use a USB-C to lightning cable, but interesting to see how the wireless charger worked.

Nice. Prob phone getting hot?

Next try the USB-C, see how that compares.

I'm buying the CTEK 250. Reading the thread is 100w panel the max it can take or can I go 200w. Looking for suit case portable.
Thanks

I use 2 x 150w ( 300 ) ...but if you buy a single high wattage panel you risk going over the Max input voltage 23v ....you can join lower wattage panels to gather to give greater wattage but they must not exceed the 23 volts input connected in parallel

Wont be going more than 200w so the VOC of 23v is the thing to look far

What's 200w folding system represents the best value currently ?
What are people using/recommend
Thanks
