The 20-26 day rule seems to work

Yesterday I renewed my car insurance which is due on may 2nd. The renewal had come through from LV. Last year, £380, this year up to £516. Like for like policies on Compare the Market came up with Aviva at £320 which I was happy with, but I thought I'd check Go Compare. I'm glad I did. The exact same Aviva policy through them was £258.

I know this is a car and not a specialist van insurance, but it makes no sense at all.

Ok so I’m 24 days away from renewal

Just spent 45 mins on the phone to my first name on the list: Howden (A Plan)

Waiting on agreed value confirmation, but quoted £449 which is actually cheaper than I paid last year (Just Kampers conversion policy with market value), & 6k miles (I’ve done less than 3k since owning the van)

Now, can I bothered to call another company just for comparison
A-Plan as they were at the time kept me hanging on for months about the AV, finally saying they wouldn't do it! Get some more quotes with a guaranteed AV!

They're supposed to come back to me today or by Monday latest... I'll try the next one on my list - Brentacre - and see how that goes!

A-plan (now called Howden) have bumped my T6 quote from 518 to 673 this year with no changes on a van that's a year older

Been on two price comparison sites and not got anything better

Any top recommendations before I stick with a-plan?

Adrian Flux for the Agreed Value.

LV (the current insurer for our van) just emailed about my forthcoming renewal. It wasn’t a reminder as such, and had no indication of cost should I just renew as is, but just had paragraphs of why insurers in the UK are massively increasing their premiums.

Getting their excuse in early or trying to put me off from even asking for a quote?

I also read an article about shallow faking damage to vehicles being the new scam that’s hitting the industry- and to be fair it’s easy to see this resulting in even more costs for us.
