Timing and oil pump belt

Hi all
Recently bought a 2019 T6 with 140km on it and started looking into the timing belt change. The local VW garage suggested timing belt done at 4 year intervals or 220km.
Went to my local mechanic who I know, trust and has never let me down only for him to tell me about this oil pump belt. He said they had T6 go bang and turns out the oil belt had gone, he contacted VW and they didn't give any guidance on when the oil belt needs changing.
He's happy to do both but said I should maybe go to a proper dealer garage if doing the oil belt as might get a guarantee with it.

My question is are people changing these now when doing first timing belt change?

Cheers
Dave

It is a recent discussion on the topic

Cheers for that, so people generally never routinely change the belt?
It's designed to last the life of the motor and, unlike the Transit wet belt, failure is all but umheard. It endures very little load.

As above, if you're in there anyway then why not, but otherwise don't worry.

Thanks again. I might get a quote and see how much extra it will be to change it while he's doing the timing belt if it's expensive I'll leave it and put the money into a set of alloys. Cheers

It's a sump off job, with all the attendant cleaning and resealing afterwards, so I'd expect it'll add a fair bit of labour to the quote.
