To LED or not....£1700!

That's is still in progress I can do a kit of part with wiring but not finalised an exact price but it looking around 1600-1650 + vat for the headlights which is everything required to get them in an working but will be an additional few hundred for the levelling kit if wanted

Depending on how experienced you are at getting bits on and off as bumper needs to be removed etc, I think it would take me 4-5 hours to do headlights and cabling prob an extra hour or two if you have never done it before
Levelling system is a bit more tricky and needs to be on a ramp preferably to get the level sensors fitted underneath and wires need to be run front to back for rear level sensor

I'd love to do this, but I wouldn't be confident doing all that myself so by the time you add VAT, levelling bits and labour is going to be knocking at the door of £3K. I think I'll have to make do with the upcoming halfway house solution from TransporterHQ.

What worries me is what happens when the LED's fail, pop into Halfords, mmmh don't think so, or visit the dealer and get a new headlight for £500++++++, plus some more wonga for fitting.

The headlights are available in component form, you can buy the LED modules, power modules and cooling fans etc etc separately

Said it before and I will say it again. The Light Plus package or whatever its called gives you twin H7's at less than half the price of the LEDs. I live in an area with just about no street lighting and find them pretty decent, and that's after my previous vehicle which was a Cayenne with BI-Xenons. More than adequate for a van, if not as bright as LEDs.

Not sure why these threads always polarise into two options of sh*te H4s or rip off LEDs. There is a middle ground

Anyone got H7's with uprated lamps ( an auto electrician told me off for calling them bulbs, that daffodils he said)?

What happens with the redundant lead to the H4 DRL's or am I being stupid?
Anyhow is it easier with the bumper off?

Theres only one connector with 10 pins and covers all lamps/functions

just looking in the forum shop........difference between H4 and H7 units is £5 per side! My god, you cheap skates VW........you should be ashamed! I've got H4's and they truly are dire......I'm either going to go H7 or get some IKEA tea light holders for my H4's......not sure yet!

In my 2007 Defender I found lighting a Zippo and sticking it out of the window doubled the light output...
