Hi, where do people get their dissolvable toilet paper for the porta potti from? Do any shops sell it? Does Don't give a crap bamboo stuff work ok? It says it's biodegradable. thank you!

But I thought the normal stuff clogged it up and made it hard to empty?
i suppose that depends on how much you use.

personally i find the "dissolvable toilet paper" useless and find you need to use twice as much anyway.
though all totaly personal preference, , ,

but if you want the proper stuff then look here:

Zooms in....

How ******* much!? £7 for 4 bog rolls! Holy Shit! Literally!

This "Doesn't ordinary bog-roll block things up?" question reminded me of a TV documentary investigating fat-bergs in the sewage system.

During the program, the discussion turned to wet-wipes - the role they play in the formation of such blockages and whether flushable wet-wipes alleviated the problem. At this point they turned to a sewage worker whose job it was to remove fat-bergs and asked him for his thoughts on flushable wet-wipes. Without a hint of irony, this bloke stated boldly "There's no such thing as a flushable wet-wipe - all wet-wipes block the sewers. I've been doing this job for 20 years and I've never seen evidence that flushable wet-wipes don't cause fat-bergs".

The Carl Sagan quote "The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence" sprang to mind. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

When I have used normal toilet paper the tank fills quicker and the liquid when you empty is a congealed mess.
When I use the dissolving paper the liquid on emptying is just a non smelly liquid with no sign of any paper.
So my advice is use the paper designed for portable toilets.

Special bog roll for the portaloo?

Every day is a school day!

Like others, we just use whatever is in stock at home. No1s only - never had any issues.

Thats a good point... And what we do.

No 1s in the bucket,

No²s in the loos, (aka washblock)

Unless it's an emergency.

I have taken the porta potti for so long I’ve forgotten what it looks like. I take a bucket from a basic camp toilet for no. 1s but haven’t used that for so long I might stop taking that too. I assume if you are using it for serious business then you are camping somewhere with no facilities, do those places have elsan disposal with a hose or something to wash it out with? If not, and you are just relying on the contents to move the solids then getting this paper seems like a good idea
