Toilet Tent - any thoughts? Have the toilet in the van at night and in the tent through the day: so my good lady is not sitting having a glass of wine or two when I am attending to my business. Oh the planning that has to be d

Who knew it would be that complicated - the Thetford toilet is only 12 inches of the ground. Sitting with my knees round my ears having a poo will be fun.

Ours are the 365 the same height as the house toilet so nice and comfy
if not a bit chilly on a cold morning must get a heater in the toilet tent

We have a drive away awning with a bedroom pod in it which we use for the Porta Potti. It also is great for storage.

Will you be using a driveway awning? We use the area between the van and the awning divide for the loo.
We hadn’t planned on buying an awning. But we have only had the van since January and we now have lots of things that we hadn’t planned on buying

Now you are the second friend of this forum who has suggested an awning hadn’t planned on an awning but the pressure is building. My thoughts about an awning were, if you are only going away for a couple of days are they worth the hassle to put up and take down ? Your thoughts gratefully received.

Our plan is a modest drive away awning. We dont plan to have a pop top so the awning will be for lounging cooking and storage.

Compared to normal tents they seem a bit pricey. I think we paid £500 for our Outwell 4birth 3 bed pole tent with groundsheet, carpet and porch (Go Outdoors package deal) A decent 1 room driveaway seems to be £350ish.

There is an extensive thread on awning tents!!

I will have a look at the “ awning tent thread” as this thread is a “ toilet tent thread”

Our portaloo plan was to put it in the tunnel between the tent and the van. Its likely to be me up in the night and SWMBO wears ear plugs at night so should be OK in the tunnel!

Each to their own of course, but we are with you on them not being worth the hassle.

Have the 345 Thetford and a shower tent from decathlon. Only used the set up once on our first camp last year at a campsite, we wanted to avoid using the site facilities. On all other trips we have used pub facilities - after a good breakfast. They were usually empty and we were the first customers. For number ones we use public toilets, if out and about and can’t find one then we use,

We carry that and a bog in a bag for any emergencies. This stuff is handy when using disposable bags, Probisa special cleaner for human and animal - liquid absorber for binding vomit, urine, faeces with a fresh citrus odour: Amazon.co.uk: Health & Personal Care

it’s all a learning curve.

Anyone remember Gillian McKeith - ‘you are what you eat’ TV program. She suggested a couple of breeze blocks aside to loo to rest your feet on and get your knees up high! o_O
What else do I need to take with me on my very first trip in the van ? Thank you I just had not considered breeze blocks.
