Too much shaking

Hi

I just bought a 2017 vw transporter t6 (I think?), it's 148bhp swb with bluemotion spec.

It is ex motability with under 4k miles on clock with new cam belt. As ex motability it was a wheelchair adapted conversion with tail lift, no middle seats, folding rear seats and some hand driving controls.

I'm finding the drive a bit noisy, big vibrations with bumps, rattling and shaking thru the suspension.

What are my low to medium cos options for better springs or anything that can make it a nicer ride?

Thanks Karen

Hi k4renm4c, Karen, welcome to the T6 Forum. their have been many discussions on the forum concerning Motability and the equipment removal. There is also someone who can take in or off your hands removed equipment and put it proper use for its intended purposes.

I can not give you a price for springs and dampers it depends on what you might want. Mown preferences are for KONI dampers/shock absorbers and what ever the specialist advises for springs. Their are a number of suppliers/fitters and specialists operating and have on line presence in this forum.

Hi

I need the equipment as a full time wheelchair user 🙂. It just feels like I'm driving a works van. I bought the pre-adapted van as a long term (mobility) investment for me.

Some is internal noise. Some of my tail lift has flimsy vibrating plastic covers. A compartment was loose etc. All that stuff I'll look at options to dampen down internal rattles.

But still more vibrations coming up through wheel base than I'm used to 🙈

Thank you for your help!

Has the van been sound-deadened and insulated? This will help reduce panel resonance.

Also, the suspension is designed to take weight and we find that our camper (still on factory wheels/suspension) is a whole lot less noisy when fully loaded with all the camping gear. You could try adding load/weight to quieten things down.

The conversions cut big holes in the floor pan which affects the rigidity of the monocoque and they wobble and flop like a blancmange.

I doubt it has had any more done than critical disability adaptions.

It is designed to take a 100kg wheelchair but I haven't tried that yet. Only weight will be the taillight. Will see if a big chair helps. Thank you 🙏

Yeah I've walked around a factory. One car was straight off the manufacturing line and it had no floor. Was a ford tourneo. Scary stuff.

I'll try and do some research into brook miller drive from adaptions to find out if they do this. 🙈
