Tracker Sim Card

Yes it’s on constant charge, though from my leisure battery, not the van battery.
Not sure what I would do if my van was stolen, but something along the lines of tracking it to its location while informing the police with the intention of reclaiming it (with the spare keys) if possible. Obviously avoiding any physical confrontation as well - though that may be hard...
You’re right about confrontation, it complicates matters, however they never need to know it’s coming.

I've got my GiffGaff card in now with £10 loaded and it looks like it tracking on the ios app called sinotracker. Great so far. When I try to operate the fuel cut off, either by the app or by SMS, I can hear the relay 'flashing', then I re-enable the fuel (again by app or sms) and the clicking stops.

Anyone have any idea what's going on here? I expected a single 'click' from the relay when turning on or off the fuel.

I think I have said previously not to disable the fuel pump as you risk damaging the high pressure fuel dump. which in turn could damage the engine. Unless you have a TSi?

OK, i'm not actually trying to disable the fuel pump, only to operate the relay in the tracker, which in the app is called 'Control Fuel'.

For the reasons in the thread above (i.e. I don't want to kill anyone) I will either use the relay to disable the starter motor, or even to remotely switch on/off my planar heater.

First I have to find out why it's mis-behaving tho........

Which tracker is it? the latest Relay sized ones don't actually have a physical relay contact in them that cuts the line, it is a MOSFET circuit that stops the voltage getting through from one side to the other, you put 12V to one wire and 12V comes out on the other wire but it's not the same as a mechanical relay.

It is a relay sized one. But I can clearly hear the relay clicking when I trigger it.

I'd be suprised if there is an actual relay in there, none of the three I have have them. The latest version with the extra orange wire? Try putting a multimeter across the two oil line wires on Ohms, A relay would give you either 0Ohms when the contacts are closed, or OL when they're open, I think you'll find an odd reading like 98KOhms

Mine has a relay in a loom that plugs into the tracker.

My Xexun XT009 was like that, external, regular 30A automotive relay, the output from the tracker just activated the relay.

A lot of these GPS trackers are only 2G compatible, 850/900/1800/1900MHz, Mobile networks that are 3G and above may not work with some trackers.
I use Asda Mobile in mine, you can call them and get balances and add funds from any phone, no need to take the sim card out of the tracker to put it into a phone to do it.
