It's not chrome. They are polished stainless steel.

I am on the second set ! The first ones pitted with rust spots over winter. Vw changed them with no quibble. If i am honest i think this set will do the same. I would like to get wrapped or something any way but only when i have had at least 4 sets out of VW.

Very nice bars i'm vaccilating between side skirts and bars. having spoken to jpl auto in Basingstoke I was advised that bigger bars often foul the lifting rigs that garages use. At the moment I'm thinking about original Sportline long wheel base skirts.. but those carbons are pretty nice

Ok I've had a read of a few threads on here but havent found exactly what im after.

I would like to get some sidebars for my LWB ideally in black (i could powder coat some silver ones if needed) but i have some questions still

1. are there any black trapezoidal bars available or would i have to buy silver from VW and powder coat?
2. from the non-VW bars are there any that people have fitted and confirm the jacking points can still be used
3. from the non-VW bars are there any made out of better quality steel that wont rust if chipped etc?

so basically answers to the above and recommendations please

1 VW never did the angled ones in black they only do round ones in black
2 doesn’t stop you using the jacking points but if your van is lowered as well as sidebars this obviously reduces the gap you have to get a jack in there !
3 aftermarket angled bars are starting to appear but can’t comment on quality

I've fitted three sets of the tube ones now to Cali's (see avatar) Identical to OE perfect fit no issues with chrome. Cant comment on the angled or black ones.

The only thing I do is swap the supplied bolts/washers for stainless.

Sorry Dude, I did not know that. Cali's are SWB so I would not have considered that. There's a debate on the Cali Forum about side bars at present if that helps.
