Trickle Charging Leisure Battery

Hello there.
I seem to have an issue with my leisure battery not holding charge and speaking to the form I purchased the van from and reading up fully (which I should have done before), I believe I may have damaged by leisure battery by allowing it to get completely discharged a number of times.
I’ve been told to remove the leisure battery and trickle charge it (should take a few days) to see if the battery is okay.

Am I right in saying that I have to remove the drivers seat in orders to get the battery out ?

Also I’ve read that it is a good idea to trickle charge your leisure battery every few months anyway (which I have never done before).

If this is the case is it a good idea to install a trickle charger in the camper to enable the trickle charge without the need to remove the battery ?

Cheers

Do you know what battery you have?
If it is installed under the seat then I would say yes, remove seat and get the battery 'bench' tested.

I believe that it is good practice to recharge the battery/ies every couple of weeks to help life cycles..
@Dellmassive may also add more guidance

I would suggest removing it, charging it up and have it tested. That way you will know if it as damaged.

If you don’t use the vehicle often, then you should hook it up and charge it.
You can also use a small solar panel in the windscreen to keep it topped up if you don’t want to go to the trouble of a full solar system.

But, you need to have the battery tested first...

If it defective and won't hold a charge, replace it.

Once you have good batterys... work out which charging method suits you best.

Mains charger,
Solar charger,
DC-dc charger,

Thank you for your responses. As always the T6 forum comes up trumps.

I’m going to get the battery tested and possible switch to a better Gel based battery and then maintain it correctly.

I like the idea of a solar charger and getting it fitted to the pop roof as whilst expensive to start is a great long term solution.

Thank you again.
