Twitchy Steering on high rev

Hi Guys,

This could be perfectly normal, but not previously had a van of any kind I just wanted to make sure :D

Is it normal under heavy acceleration for the steering to be twitchy at higher revs, noticed it alot recently that putting my foot down it seems the steering goes a bit loose like im driving on Ice ( only for a second or two ). Maybe something like traction control ? I guess it could be as its much more noticable when one wheel is going over a bump uneven road.

Is it something thats fine and i just need to not drive like I stole it ? lol , or something that needs to be looked at ?

Hi @Adam H .. is it a 204 with DSG…i was forever spinning the fronts on heavy acceleration from stand still. ( fixed with TVS remap)
but in general DSG boxes do have a slight lag….if its while driving my need investigating …Assuming it’s DSG the gear oil needs changing at 40000miles :)

@VanDamMan no bud its a 5 speed manual, T28. But has had a pendle remap ( 102 - 162 ), Not sure if it matters but I'm also running 20" wheels ( which have been hunter aligned )

This is also mid drive, second and third gear mostly, i guess around the 4000 rpm range for a split second, but when it happens it sometimes makes me think "woah" that wasnt nice lol

Sounds like your finding/nearing the limits of traction

I thought it might the case that im probably driving it too much like a sports car lol, but wanted to make sure incase it was something I needed to get in it in the garage for :D

It's torque steer, short gear ratios in the van, in the lower gears it's fairly obvious, don't worry

haha im the same, I have two gears, heavy foot or cruise control lol. Cruise control is much much friendlier on the MPG :D I'm nearly 40 so starting to crack on a bit now myself :D
