Tyre damage by a fox?

Has anyone had a car/van tyre punctured by a fox bite?
Had two tyres punctured in sidewall, so both written off, in the space of two days, it was the same wheel too so the second new tyre had done less than 1 mile,
I’ve read all about the soya wiring problems but I’m not sure how a fox could get a tooth into a tyre, and why?
I reported it to police as criminal damage at the time, as tyre shop said it had been stabbed, but reading on local forum South east London)
People are saying it’s foxes?
Any thoughts

I doubt it's a fox. I'd be more inclined to pay heed to the tyre monkeys who've seen inside they tyre rather than the keen but untrained naturalists of SE Laarndan.

Any pics?

Cant see how a fox could do that
If it was surely it would have to eat through it and make a lot of damage

The bite force of an average red fox is around 340N. No idea if that's enough to bite through the sidewall of tyre (for comparison, it's 540N for an average domestic dog). There's also the issue of whether a fox has wide enough jaws to bite clean through the sidewall. Seems unlikely to me.

Sorry, but those local groups and forums are ridiculous sometimes.

A fox. A fox! How sharp do these people think foxes teeth are? And how strong are their jaws? Must be some kind of sabre tooth/great white shark/hyena hybrid foxes in south east London!

Even then, why would they? It's not like car tyres taste good!

It'll have been some bell end going round stabbing car tyres with a knife, for fun. You might have parked in 'their' spot on the road or something else just as silly.

Edit: apparently there has been foxes caught on camera biting at tyres, so they might actually have some possibility there!

Are the cut marks straight or jagged?

I very much doubt that it is a fox. Its too far fetched. The indigenous farmers here would have people believe that the fox and the badger are culprits in just about any crime, they just want rid and the trees would be next. If the car is near to your house when this damage happens use remote security camera.

The only reason any animal would suddenly take an interest in a tyre might be if someone had smeared something onto the tyre to deliberately encourage action. Wild animals are too interested in filling there bellies and rearing young. That is tough in remote areas but rural and in city areas there is lots of edible stuff just lying around so why bother with a tyre. I should imagine that 4 weekly bin clearance might make even more available but I have no idea what goes into bins in cities.

Well I’m glad it’s not just me doubting the fox single tooth bite.
I was visiting my mum and was parked on her drive at the time for 5 days, it’s not a neighbour with a grudge etc, I asked around some of the neighbours and they have had same tyre damage , one said a fox, and the local neighbourhood forum is saying its definitely foxes they have seen on cctv etc
Once I had the second new tyre fitted I cut my visit short and won’t be parking there for a while

No pics unfortunately, almost impossible to spot, tyre shop used soap to find hole.
Was a single cut/puncture about 5-10 mm

This was the daily mail so take it with a pinch of salt, but the bite marks on his tyres were very obvious

I have seen a few of these reports but like most, still find it difficult to believe that is what is happening.
The first time that I noticed the tyre was a bit flat, I managed to drive to tyre shop, they had to order a new tyre, so back the next day to get it fitted.
Two days later new tyre completely flat, went to jack up to fit spare but couldn’t budge a single nut, called green flag, 3 hours later they came and put enough air in, to get me to tyre shop, tyre shop had to use a 4 ft bresker bar to undo the nuts they had over tightened up, I wasn’t happy… space saver spare on and order anther new tyre, to be fitted the next day,
Ps from now on a 12 v tyre inflater will be in any vehicle I drive

Where abouts in Khan Land did this happen ?
My daughter had a couple of tyres stabbed last year in Thornton Heath. Having worked around that area for 5 years, I'm really not surprised.

I'd be getting one of those wildlife cameras and placing it nearby, maybe get the perpetrator on film.

I can quite believe a fox having a nibble, but the idea of a fox successfully biting through a commercial vehicle tyre is laughable.
