Underside of Steering Wheel Panel Heating

Hoping for some advice.

Whenever I drive >1hour I noticed there is a wave of heat coming from the underside panel of the steering wheel and also below the RH vent to the side of the steering wheel.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? My aircon is currently broken (unknown issue) but fans are working fine

There is a tube behind the vent just to the right of the steering wheel which falls on the floor and disappears under the van when you pop the vent off. (On my T6.1 anyway) Maybe it’s missing on yours? It’s easy to pull the vent off to check.

The strange thing is if I have my fans set to cold there’s still heat coming from under the steering wheel. I’ll check the RH vent to see if I can see anything
