...

it wasnt mentioned when i had the timing belt done,?

but looks like it was cleaned recently.

ill be mentioning it when it goes in to VW in a couple o weeks with the pics above to let them know - i know about it and see what they say.

wondering if that will be covered by the factory warranty?

as for the PSF, still not sure where its leaking. . . . I've not topped up, and dont thinbk i will. . .

ill leave it as it is so the VW tech can see what amount has been lost, so they know what to look for.

im booked in , in about three weeks time anyway.

.

this is mine . . . .

just an update on this:

so low level . . .

but no sign of a leak?

this was confirmed by the Dealer - No Leak,

so the PS oil was topped up.

i asked about where the oil had gone, they said it probably hadn't been topped up ever, so over the last 5years it had just gone down a bit. (wear&tear, oil degradation, evaporation, dilution - wherever, but it wasn't leaking.

topped up by VW FOC during a service.

Reassuring as I just checked mine before we head off for summer hols and it’s the same level as yours.
I too had a good look all round and squeezed the boots - all dry, no signs of a leak anywhere.
I imagine it’s never been topped up. Will do this and keep an eye, feeding back if anything new crops up.

It took around 50ml to get it from what appeared to be well off the ‘cold’ hashed area (just below the letter ‘c’) to the top. Doesn’t seem much to me so hopefully not a problem. The steering still has the shudder/noise at very slow speeds as also mentioned by @CALLAKN so not sure what that’s all about? I haven’t driven it to circulate the fluid but then the reservoir still had the ports for the hoses covered despite being off the gauge so not sure that would do anything to improve it.
