Van arrived at Dealership wrongly built!

Hoping some of you have had the same experience. So New Van collection all set up for Saturday, Car going tomorrow & can’t get out of it, cheap train tickets booked for Saturday.
Phone rings at tea time, it’s the Van Centre...erm we have a little bad news van specced wrong. Its not minor either, I requested non sliding windows in a Kombi (it is specable) & it’s arrived with full length windows. They asked if I liked it but defo don’t want it so they’re going to have to re-order.
So few questions before I go in all guns blazing because they have been really good.
- Do they need to provide me with a replacement vehicle until mine arrives?
- Is the price increase going to affect me as it’s on finance?
- They said I could add some extras if there’s anything I’ve thought of. But surely that’s a change on my behalf & they could claim I’ve rejected the van so the price change does affect me.

Oh dear @Ro63rt, another bad day for German efficiency!
From my experience with Audi for a wrong order, they will/ should supply you with a courtesy vehicle and expediate your re-build. If they try and squirm then inform them of the financial position it has placed you in, that you are now without a vehicle etc.
They should equally honour the price since it is there mistake, and had they not have built it incorrectly you'd be driving around in a nice new van at the price you had agreed. Again if they argue go straight to VWCV UK.
From the last point you've made it sounds to me as though they are just going to bang a like for like order straight into the factory, so again, this would lead me to think that they will honour the price when it comes through. Be well worth pushing them on some factory fit options that you may have wished you'd specced on the order having had the chance to see what the rest of us report we had.
Good Luck, stick to them.

Cheers @DaveyB see what I can get, although it’s no compensation for no van. At least it’s over the Winter & it will probably end up been an 18 plate now. Another twelve weeks of dribbling over other people’s.

Sure I have read posts on here where the order has been fast tracked and been a lot quicker than 12 weeks???

Hi Ro63rt, had the same problem. Wanted solid windows & got built with sliders.

Any trouble just contact VW customer services, it gets sorted out very quickly!!

You should not be out of pocket, I got a Caddy to smoke & got a priority build. Was about 6 weeks so can be done.

I also took a photo or the van vin number so you don't get the same one but fixed up. Don't listen to them they will most probably say that due to a problem with a part at the factory the build will be 26 weeks!!

Don't go in guns blazing be clam, it messes with their heads, hey we all make mistakes, it will get sorted.

Hope all is good.

happend to me too Rob .... keep calm and polite and you will be suprised at what you can get ... i went from 102 to 150 same price . diside what compensation you would be happy with and keep pushing ..... good luck and i feel your pain but everthing has a silver lining

So were the windows the only thing?

Thanks all for the comments, yeah I don’t want to go in all guns blazing it never gets you anywhere. Mmmmm fast track eh? Fingers crossed. @PukkaT6 yeah everything else was spot on apparently. But this is one thing I can’t live with & when spending that amount of money you expect it to be right!

Exactly, when you buy new it's how you want it, second hand it is a compromise.

I had no idea I could of ordered without sliders, or I would of! Although judging by the above, probably a good thing I didn't.

I'm sure I was told that the sliders come as standard, the salesperson has to unclick the box & they come as solid Windows

Hi Ro63rt I had a similar thing , I ordered my t6 kombi in November 15 in good time for march 16 plates to come out, got a call from my local vw near the end of Feb to say it's arrived would I like a look ,Great there straight away to find everything was right apart from A bench seat in the back Not the 2+1 I had ordered some 16 weeks ago Gutted despite planning ahead ready for new registration. The Salesman sort of apologised & after finding they couldn't or wouldn't be able to swap the seating arrangements , He said that will be a new van I'll have to order , my disappointment was clear ,I had a think about it. shall I just accept this one .No I will have to wait for another 16 + weeks. In the end dispite the dealer not promiseing anything I got my correct van on the road 8 weeks later . But the whole waiting twice though no fault of my own Did my head in!!

Yeah if it was just sliders I could have coped with that but it’s not. It’s got Windows in the full length of the van.

That makes more sense, that is one epic fook up.

Your response did make me laugh ‘Its got windows the full length of the van’ thats cracked me up.

So which dealer will have a cheap window van for sale soon? Is it LWB or SWB? Just the job for a camper build! What is the full spec?
