Van keyed!

Discovered today some low life scum (and that is me being polite) has keyed two panels on my lovely T6! Gutted wouldn't come close and there was no reason for someone to have done it either! Even the dash cam didn't pick it up.

So I'm really hoping there is a way of fixing this other than full respray?! Read online that chipsaway can fix scratches, anyone has this happen to them and found a soloution? Don't want a bodge job.

Otherwise I'm going to just have to live with it sadly as don't want to put it through insurance.

Cheers for any help.

Even if you didn't pick it up on the dash cam make sure you report it to the Police and get a crime number. They may have other incidences in the location and be able to piece things together.

I feel absolutely gutted for you @VanMan48 .
The only positive is these vans have some great body lines to work with when carrying out paint work so you will never see its been repaired.
I agree with DaveyB, report it to the police, these scumbags need to be caught.

You will need the o/s rear quarter panel, sliding door respraying and colour blended into the front door maybe front wing all painted to the swage line going across the whole side.
Typically looking around £500-600. Big repair unfortunately.

Gutted for you pal..
Id be hunting for CCTV. Shops, homes, traffic etc to find the person that has scratched it.

Thanks guys, I'm beyond gutted but will have to live with it for the time being as can't afford a respray. They'll be bugger all cctv in the area too as it was in a quiet cul de sac private lane!

@VanMan48 I put a big scratch/scar on the rear quarter and door, of the wifes' 3 series coupe a few weeks ago.
I used to be a fully qualified car body repairer (30 years ago) and wasn't keen on taking the car to a smart repair centre. I got a quote from BMW of just under £1,500. 9 years no claims so an insurance job was out of the question.
Cut a long story short, I went to my local smart repair body shop. £300 + Vat to paint rear 1/4, door and lacquer the wing, so entire side. I was dubious but thought, if its a crap job then I'll have to bite the bullet and pay BMW. The outcome was a completely un-noticeable repair.
What I'm trying to say is, A good Smart repairer is as good as any major body shop. Don't be put off by the cheap price, Just ask around or google reviews beforehand .
The sad thing is that some scum bag has just cost you £500

Must be someone who knows you then? Jealous maybe!.
I was in a completely different place, no one knew me there. If I'd pissed someone off then I could accept this mindlessness somewhat but as it stands I just don't understand it.

Plankers then, mate

The human race is a weird thing, it has the full spectrum of specimens, from the exceptional to the downright evil. I just don't understand the evil, there must be some joy of sorts in it for them but that would seem to go against the grain in itself. What could you possibly get out of running keys down the side of someone's car, revenge of hate, then maybe they may be able to justify it to themselves but this?

Of little comfort, but scum of similar type keyed my son's Skoda Citigo!!!

I've calmed down about it now as maddening as it is. Watching the Passchendaele commemoration is sobering and moaning about my scratched van now seems ridiculous.

Would love to have caught the scrotes red handed though :)

Bring back the birch. Identify and shame the scum. If my kids did that to someone's property, they would be paying in full for repairs and then made to do chores in your garden for a year or so. They would also get their ears boxed by me. Shame and humiliation work wonders, but we seem to be hamstrung by liberal do-gooders who think the little loves just need a bit more love and understanding. Can't damage their self-esteem but they can trash your van.

I would agree that it is a 500 quid repair. You could use it as an excuse to go for that two tone paint job or a wrap in fluorescent orange.

Awwww, mate......I feel your pain! I had a beautiful 3 series touring......really mint......had it from almost new. I was sat in the dentist and watched it happen! By the time I'd got to my car, the despicable little b*stard had legged it. It was for the best that I didn't catch him.......middle aged bloke with a bushy beard from an ethnic minority in Bradford.........I'd have pulverised him and lost my job and pension for my trouble! Vanman.......it's possibly for the best you don't know who it is.....you might have done something you'd live to regret! Gutted for you mate......really, really gutted!
