Thanks for the info, I've been contacting VanShades every few months, requesting an update, on the upgrade of their Chairpod, no joy to date, but your 'find', is very interesting.

I’ve been waiting for a while as well.

But now I’m not sure I really want any more grey/beige plastics in my van, and I think I actually prefer the bag-style design.

I’ve been looking at the Bus Box option which looks neat.

Today I received a quote for a made-to-measure custom padded bag (similar to the Bus Boxx) which came to £75.

The chairs are made by Bo-Camp and cost around £50 each. so I’m tempted to just make my own tailgate bag. There’s not much to them.
 
I'm going to contact the company for more info and costs, I'll let you know their response.
It's just a pity, VW haven't seen the sales potential, of offering an upgrade of the California camping chairs option, to other 'Transporter', models, with a tailgate?

Saw a 'post', wrt Vanshades, about their progress on their new Chairpod design, it was dated last June.
They were about to start the Tooling Process, which takes about two months, then some other design requirements, with no timescale given.
So, I wont be holding my breath for a sale date this year?
It would be helpful, if VanShades occasionally posted an update, on the progress of their new ChairPod, on their website?

I got this from vanshades on the 8th March…

Hi, the manufacturing order has been placed on a 5 week lead time. This was placed 1 week ago. Thank you for your patience
 
It is expensive at around £600. There is a different version at half the price

There are a few bag options out there. I think that one is Vanshades previous design. It doesn’t look like you can buy from that site so I assume they’re discontinued.

I’m not convinced the new moulded plastic version looks any better than a fabric bag, and definitely not worth the £300 extra.
