Hi All,
I have been trying to suss out the tax costs for a our new van conversion.
we have ordered a VW 6.1 transporter (sept 2020 registered) and getting it converted, (should be ready in 8 -10 weeks) very excited...
I have read some conflicting tax rules, and wondered if anyone can put me straight.
One site mentions : "Registered vans after march 2001 up to 3500kg" £250
Another site claims : "New vehicle first year £870"
"Rates for second road tax VED payment onwards (if camper van list price is under £40,000 and registered after 1 April 2017)" £150
"Rates for second to sixth annual payment (inclusive) for camper vans over £40,000 when bought new" £465
So the question is really how much road tax would I pay, for a registered 13th Sept 2020 VW transporter 6.1 with a brand new conversion to put the price over the £40K mark, however, the vehicle can't be registered as a campervan on the V5 document (think its listed as a panel van with windows, or similar), due to new DVLA guidelines from October 2020.
I can only assume the higher price marking would be something like a VW California as these are built over in Germany and can registered as a campervan.
Can anyone help clear this up?
Cheers
James
