What model and year is it? If it’s a T6.1 with a factory-fitted leisure battery under the passenger seat, then you won’t be able to charge the starter battery via either of the 12V cab sockets as they’re fed from the leisure battery.

I'm wiring one of these in permanently between my leisure battery and the starter battery on my MAN TGE (VW Crafter in disguise).

That seems to be one of the recommended modules for keeping the starter battery charged from a leisure battery which has some method of keeping topped-up either by just being a big power source, fitted with solar panel(s) or plugged into a EHU.

Indeed @rod_vw. The Ablemail maintainer is a really good solution. I’ve ended up getting one as my starter battery was never getting charged fully by the smart alternator even after very long trips.

Ah but we do often forget that with a stop-start vehicle the starter battery only charges to 80% under normal circumstances.
